Ridgegear RGH7 Premium Multi-Use 5-Point Harness

Description

RGH7 is the Ridgegear premium multi-use five-point harness, tested to five standards: EN 361:2002, EN 358:2018, EN 1497:2007, EN 12277:2015 and EN 813:2008, approved to a maximum user weight of 140 kg. It combines fall arrest, work positioning, sit suspension and upright rescue from the rear D, and can also be used for mountaineering.

One harness, five attachment roles

Front, rear, side and ventral attachment points allow comfortable hands-free work by double clipping into the side D rings. Waist, leg and shoulder support pads spread the load, two tool loops keep tools handy, and the chest area is shaped so straps do not cut into the neck. Fold-back side D rings, fast-fit leg buckles, tail tidies and parking loops are listed features.

The instructions cover the harness as RGH7 SIT (the lower body, approved to EN 358 and EN 813) and RGH7 TOP (approved to EN 361 and EN 1497 when used with the SIT). The weight is 2.6 kg and the webbing is 45 mm RIDGE Protect anti-bacterial polyester.

Selection and ordering guide

Choose the RGH7 when the same worker alternates between fall arrest, positioning and seated suspension, for example on pipe racks, tank shells and rope work. The RGH17 on this site adds a removable chest ascender and built-in positioning belt for rope access. The RGH3 is the lighter two-point option.

Side D rings are for work positioning only; the RGH17 instructions on the same family say they must never be used for fall arrest, and a fall arrest back-up system must be in place when positioning.

Installation and operation notes

Fit the harness with a suspension test in a safe place before first use. The product marking records approved standards, size, waist size, maximum weight and serial number. The sit attachment point is the central front D ring, which is not for fall arrest.

A full body harness must be combined with a suitable rescue plan, and the user must be trained; the instructions warn that medical conditions such as heart disease or vertigo can affect safety.

The marking on the RGH7 SIT shows approved standards, size, waist size, maximum weight and serial number, and the harness carries a scan code for technical data. The user must be trained, a rescue plan must exist, and the harness is recommended for personal issue. Keep a record card with the first-use date and inspection results, withdraw it if it has arrested a fall and replace it within the lifespan the instructions give.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Industrial access in the GCC where tasks are done standing and seated: refinery steelwork, towers, storage tanks and building facades. Anti-bacterial webbing helps in hot, sweaty conditions.

Ridgegear also lists RGT2 and RGT6 height training courses on the product page.

Because the harness can be used for sit suspension, check the leg and waist buckles regularly during use so that straps have not loosened, and be aware of suspension trauma; the size guide published by Ridgegear lists user weights per size.
