Donaldson P568583 Clean Solutions Dual Filter Head
Description
A dual aluminium filter head for diesel and lube bulk fluid filters, to 125 gpm
The Donaldson P568583 is a Clean Solutions dual filter head for bulk diesel fuel and lubricant filtration. It holds two spin-on filters side by side and handles flow rates up to 125 gpm (473 lpm). The head is aluminium with threaded steel inserts that reduce metal-to-metal galling between head and filter, even with diesel fuel, and it uses Viton seals for compatibility with a wide range of fluids and for cold-weather sealing.
A 1 1/2 inch SAE 4-bolt Code 61 flange connects it to the system, and flange adapters P563107 (1 1/2 inch NPTF) and P563109 (SAE-24) are listed. The head is pre-ported for optional pressure gauges or service indicators, and it uses leak-free SAE O-ring connections.
This page summarises the manufacturer sheet for quick reference. Compare the figures with your drawing, the existing nameplate and the operating conditions of the installation, and tell us anything that differs so the correct variant can be confirmed in writing before any order is placed.

Installation and service
Fit the head downstream of the pump, following the flow arrows cast on the body. Pipe fittings that adapt the head to an existing line need thread sealant, and both O-rings should be wiped with a little oil before the filter is spun on. After the gasket seats, a further half turn is enough. Leave about 38 mm of free space under the filters for changes.
Both positions on a dual head must carry the same filter model and be changed together. Systems above 350 psi are outside the rating. For water removal Donaldson suggests two dual heads in series, particulate filters first and water absorbing filters second. Change filters when the flow slows or the chosen differential pressure is reached.
Choosing a head
Within the Clean Solutions family the P568583 is the plain dual head, the single head P570329 handles lower flows and the dual head with bypass P574958 suits circuits that cannot lose flow. Filters are sold separately and come from the compatible Clean Solutions list, so check filter model, fluid and flow before ordering. Because the head is a pressure boundary, make sure the pump and hoses stay under 350 psi.
Planning the installation
Before fitting the P568583, decide where the filters will sit in relation to the pump, tank and dispensing point, and make sure there is safe access for filter changes and for draining spilled fuel or oil. Mount the head on a rigid bracket or frame so that the weight of two full filters and the connected pipework does not hang on the flange alone. Pipework should be supported independently and aligned with the flange before the bolts are tightened, so that no bending load is transferred into the aluminium body.
Plan a drip tray or bunded area under the filters. Even with careful handling, some fluid escapes when spin-on elements are removed, and diesel or lubricant on the ground creates both a slip hazard and an environmental problem. Keeping absorbent material nearby is a simple, practical measure on any fuel or lube station.
First fill and commissioning
With new filters fitted as described above, start the pump at low flow if the system allows it and let the filters fill gradually, venting air from the line at a suitable high point. Check the flange, the filter gaskets and any gauge or indicator ports for leaks while the system is under normal working pressure. Record the starting differential pressure, or the reading of the service indicator if one is installed, because that clean-filter value is the reference for deciding when the next change is due.
Service practice and records
A short written routine helps keep bulk fluid clean and consistent:
- change both filters on the head at the same time and with the same part number;
- write the change date and the throughput on the filter or in a log;
- inspect the removed filters for unusual dirt, water or metal particles that may point to a tank or supply problem;
- dispose of used filters and drained fluid through an approved waste route.
Over time, these records show whether the change interval suits the fluid quality being received, and whether storage tanks need cleaning.
Fuel and lube stations in Oman and the GCC
Bulk fuel and lubricant facilities in the region, such as those at quarries, construction sites, mining camps and fleet depots, are often exposed to strong sun, high temperatures and windblown sand. Shade the filter station where possible so that the head, gauges and hoses are not baking in direct sunlight. When opening the system, clean the area around the filter seats first, because sand entering during a filter change goes straight into the clean side of the circuit.
Warm, humid air near the coast encourages condensation inside fuel tanks as temperatures fall at night, which adds free water to diesel. Where water is a known problem, the series arrangement with water absorbing filters described above is worth discussing at the design stage, and tank breathers and drain points should be inspected regularly.

About brand
Donaldson is the American filtration company founded in Minnesota in 1915. It started when Frank Donaldson Sr. built an air cleaner for a tractor engine that kept failing in dusty fields. It is now headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, and makes filters and filtration systems for engines, hydraulics, compressed air and gases, dust collection and process liquids.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Donaldson compressed air dryers and filters, gas filter housings, activated carbon adsorbers, hydraulic and fuel filtration and dust collectors, and supply them and their replacement elements in Oman and the GCC.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.
Where Donaldson products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Donaldson filters and dryers are used for instrument and plant air in oil and gas, refining, power and desalination plants, for breathing air, in food and pharmaceutical production, on hydraulic systems and fuel storage, and in cement and bulk handling.
