Danfoss 067B3343 TE 5 Thermostatic Element R404A/R507 -60 to -25 C
Description
A TE 5 thermostatic element for low-temperature R404A and R507 systems
067B3343 is the Danfoss TE 5 element for thermostatic expansion valves, including bulb strap, for R404A/R507 in the low-temperature range of -60 to -25 C. The TE 5 to TE 55 valves are built in three parts: a thermostatic element, an interchangeable orifice assembly and a valve body with connections. This order number is the element only, with a 3 m capillary tube, 1/4 in / 6 mm flare equalization connection and a MOP point of -20 C (30 psig). The orifice and body must be ordered separately.

Choosing the orifice and body
The orifice is refrigerant and range independent, so after the element the buyer selects an orifice assembly from the TE 5 sizes. For R404A/R507 the data sheet gives rated capacities of 7 kW (orifice 0.5, 067B2788), 14 kW (orifice 1, 067B2789), 19 kW (orifice 2, 067B2790), 25 kW (orifice 3, 067B2791) and 35 kW (orifice 4, 067B2792). The standard factory static superheat is 4 K with an opening superheat of 4 K. Danfoss advises checking the superheat under running conditions when an orifice is used with a range B element and re-adjusting the static superheat setting if necessary.
Variants of the TE 5 element
The same table in the data sheet lists other R404A/R507 elements: 067B3342 (-40 to 10 C, flare, no MOP), 067B3380 (solder), 067B3358 (-10 C MOP), 067B3344 (-60 to -25 C, no MOP) and 067B3381 (-60 to -25 C, MOP -20 C, solder). 067B3343 is the flare version with the -20 C MOP. The element label also carries a production place and date code such as BE1315B. Check the label on the element, which shows valve type, evaporating temperature range, MOP point, refrigerant and the maximum working pressure, and match it with the refrigerant in the plant. These elements are refrigeration parts and are not suited to non-refrigerant services.
Documents and quotation
The TE 5 – TE 55 data sheet is linked on this page. See the cooling category for related items. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat; before ordering please confirm the refrigerant, evaporating temperature range, MOP, capillary length and which orifice and valve body you need. No product photograph of this part was available from Danfoss, only a drawing, so no image is shown yet.
How the 067B3343 thermostatic element works
A thermostatic expansion valve regulates the injection of refrigerant liquid into the evaporator so that the refrigerant leaving the evaporator has a controlled superheat. The 067B3343 element is the part that senses and reacts. Its bulb is strapped to the suction line at the evaporator outlet, and the charge in the bulb, capillary tube and power element converts the suction line temperature into a pressure on the diaphragm. The evaporating pressure, taken through the external equalization connection, acts on the other side, together with the spring. When superheat rises, the valve opens and feeds more liquid; when superheat falls, it throttles.
Danfoss builds the TE 5 power element, capillary tube and bulb in laser-welded stainless steel, and the valve cone and seat in a special wear-resistant alloy. All TE 5–TE 55 valves use external pressure equalization, which compensates for the pressure drop through the evaporator and distributor.

067B3343 selection & ordering guide
- Refrigerant and range. 067B3343 is charged for R404A/R507 and the –60 to –25 °C range. Do not use it on a different refrigerant; the element label shows the refrigerant, range, MOP and PS/MWP.
- MOP. The MOP limits evaporating pressure at start-up after defrost or a warm pull-down, protecting the compressor from overload. If your system needs no MOP, Danfoss lists 067B3344 as the version without MOP.
- Orifice. The orifice assembly is ordered separately and is refrigerant and range independent. Size it from the capacity tables in the data sheet; the orifice number and code are marked on the spring cup, and each new orifice comes with a new capillary tag.
- Valve body. Choose the body with the inlet and outlet connections required by the pipework.
- Accessories. Danfoss lists bulb straps of 350 mm (067N0589) and 225 mm (067N0587), and seal kits 068B0676 and 068B0675.
Installation & maintenance
Mount the bulb on the suction line close to the evaporator outlet and fix it with the bulb strap so that it has good thermal contact. Connect the external equalization line downstream of the bulb. Keep the bulb within the 100 °C maximum when the valve is assembled, and protect the complete valve from temperatures above 70 °C when not assembled, for example during brazing of the pipework.
The superheat setting spindle adjusts static superheat. When an orifice is combined with a range B element, Danfoss advises checking superheat under running conditions and re-adjusting if necessary. Because the orifice is interchangeable, capacity can be changed or a blocked orifice replaced without removing the valve body from the line.
Typical applications in Oman & the GCC
Danfoss names air conditioning, chillers, cold rooms and freezers as applications for the TE 5–TE 55 range. With its –60 to –25 °C range, the 067B3343 suits low-temperature duties such as frozen-food cold stores, blast freezers, ice production and supermarket freezer cabinets, all common in the food distribution and fisheries sectors of Oman and the wider GCC.

About brand
From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.
Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.
Danfoss product families on this page
Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.
Where Danfoss equipment is used
District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.
Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need
Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
