KSB KRT Submersible Motor Pump for Wastewater

Description

Non-clogging submersible pump for drainage and wastewater

The KSB KRT is a submersible motor pump for drainage, industrial wastewater, service water supply, sludge disposal and stormwater transport. Non-clogging impellers with large free passages are optimised for every type of wastewater, and five impeller types are shown in the leaflet: F-max, E-max, D, D-max and K-max.

Components are interchangeable within this type series and with the wastewater pumps of the Sewatec type series, which reduces spare parts stock.

Reliability features

Two bi-directional mechanical seals protect the motor, rolling element bearings are lubricated for life to reduce maintenance, and sensors trigger a warning in the event of overheating or moisture ingress. The cable entry is specially protected. KSB notes that IEC 60034-30 is not binding for submersible motors; the efficiency marking is used for motors that reach levels similar to standardised motors, calculated according to IEC 60034-2.

Selecting a KRT pump

Choose the installation type first, because it determines the pump stand, guide rail and discharge connection. Then provide the wastewater type and solids content, flow and head, fluid temperature and, if the water is abrasive or corrosive, the material option. The impeller type follows from the medium: the leaflet shows five types so ask for the one that suits sludge, raw sewage or stormwater.

Documents and quotation

Confirm sizes, cable length, motor rating and explosion protection if the pit is classified. The leaflet data (09.24) are US units; check them against current documentation.

About brand

KSB is a German manufacturer of pumps and valves, founded in 1871 in Frankenthal by the engineer Johannes Klein together with Friedrich Schanzlin and Jakob Becker, whose initials form the company name. The group is still headquartered in Frankenthal, Rhineland-Palatinate, and is listed as KSB SE & Co. KGaA.

Seven Star LLC lists KSB pump families including Etanorm, Movitec, Multitec and Omega, and supplies KSB pumps and spare parts to operators and contractors in Oman and the GCC, matching each request to the manufacturer's documentation.

KSB company profile

Founded 1871, Frankenthal, Germany, by Johannes Klein, Friedrich Schanzlin and Jakob Becker
First product Klein's boiler feed apparatus, installed at a Frankenthal brewery
Headquarters Frankenthal, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Legal form KSB SE & Co. KGaA, listed on the Frankfurt stock exchange
Product families Etanorm, Etabloc and Etaline standardised pumps, Movitec and Multitec multistage pumps, Omega split-case pumps, Amarex submersible pumps, BOA, ISORIA and AMRI valves, spare parts and service

Milestones

  • 1871: Klein, Schanzlin and Becker found the company in Frankenthal.
  • 1887: The company becomes a public limited company; Johannes Klein chairs the board until 1905.
  • 1930: KSB takes over its competitor AMAG.
  • 1935: The Eta standardised pump series is launched.

KSB pump series we list

  • Etanorm: horizontal single-stage volute casing pump with ratings and main dimensions to EN 733, back pull-out design, replaceable casing wear rings.
  • Movitec: vertical multistage high-pressure pump in ring-section design, with suction and discharge nozzles of the same diameter in line.
  • Multitec: multistage ring-section pump for horizontal or vertical mounting, built in materials from cast iron to duplex stainless steel.

Ordering KSB pumps and parts: what we need

For a spare part, send the type series and size, the KSB order number and serial number from the nameplate, and the part number from the sectional drawing. For a new pump, give flow, head, liquid, temperature, suction conditions, material preference, and motor voltage and frequency. Mechanical seal code and impeller diameter matter on replacements, because one pump size is built in many variants.

Facts checked against KSB's own company history (ksb.com) and its 150-year press material, October 2026.
