Roxtec FlamePlus 6×1 Fire-Rated Cable Transit Frame
Description
The Roxtec FlamePlus 6×1 is a lightweight fire-rated cable transit frame made from a composite material, designed for sandwich-panel walls in modular buildings, walls, roofs and ceilings. It has a wide flange for bolting and a built-in knock-out plate that keeps weather out until cables and modules are installed. The 6×1 version has a single opening with a 120 x 180 mm packing space; 6×2, 6×3 and 6×4 versions add openings.

With cavity insulation or with an extension frame
Roxtec describes two ways to use the transit. With insulation in the wall cavity, the cavity can be filled and sealed off, so the integrity and temperature requirements are met without mineral-wool cable insulation extending out of the wall. With the extension frame, which is attached to the opposite side of the wall aperture, no fire insulation is required: the frame is made from aluzinc-coated sheet metal and contains intumescent material that expands in a fire.
The transit can be installed around existing cables, which makes it an option for retrofit projects, and the sealing modules adapt to different cable sizes and can hold spare capacity. Because the frame is non-magnetic, corrosion resistant and lightweight, it also suits prefabricated technical rooms and containers where weight matters.
Choosing the version and checking the approval
Select the number of openings from the cable schedule and allow 120 x 180 mm per opening. Fire approvals are linked to the wall construction, so match the wall type (for example sandwich panel, concrete or lightweight concrete) with the certificate on the product page and confirm the required E or EI class and the extension-frame option with your fire engineer. Modules from the Roxtec RM family fill the openings.
Planning the penetration
A fire-rated cable transit is part of the fire compartment, so it should be planned together with the wall, not added at the end of a project. Start from the cable schedule: list every cable that will pass through the opening, note its outside diameter, and add the spare capacity the project expects for future circuits. This list decides how many openings are needed and allows the sealing modules to be selected before installation begins.
Check the wall at the planned position. The aperture must be cut to the size given for the chosen frame, with a clean edge and enough flat surface around it for the flange to bolt on securely. In sandwich panels, confirm the panel type and core material with the building supplier, since the fire rating depends on the wall construction listed in the approval documents. Keep the transit away from structural members, doors and other services that would make the bolting or later inspection difficult.
Coordinating with other trades
Agree with the electrical contractor when cables will be pulled. The built-in knock-out plate keeps weather out until cables arrive, which is useful on modular buildings that are shipped or stored before fit-out. Where cables are already in place, the transit can be built around them, but the installer should still have clear access to both sides of the wall.
Installation and sealing
Bolt the frame to the wall following the Roxtec installation instructions, and fit the cavity insulation or the extension frame according to the method chosen for the fire rating. Pack the opening with the correct sealing modules, adapting each one to its cable, and fill unused space with solid modules so that the packing is complete. Finish with the compression unit and tighten it as specified, because the seal depends on even compression across the whole packing space.
Installers should be trained in the Roxtec system, and the work should be checked by a second person before the area is closed. Photographs of each completed transit, together with a label showing the transit identity, make later inspections and audits much simpler.
Inspection and changes during the building’s life
Technical rooms, containerised substations and modular buildings in Oman are often extended or rewired during their service life. When a cable is added or removed, open the transit, adapt or replace the affected modules and restore full compression, rather than leaving gaps or pushing cables through the packing. Any change should be recorded in the transit documentation so the fire rating can still be demonstrated.
During periodic inspections, check that the frame is still firmly bolted, that the packing is complete and compressed, and that no unauthorised penetrations have been made next to the transit. In coastal and desert sites, also look for sand, dust or moisture entering around the frame flange, as these indicate a problem with the wall or flange seal that should be corrected promptly.
Keep a small stock of the module sizes used on site together with the installation instructions, so that a maintenance team can restore a transit properly after a change instead of leaving it open until materials arrive. A transit register listing each location, its wall type, fire rating and last inspection date helps the facility manager plan these checks.

About brand
Roxtec is a Swedish manufacturer of cable and pipe seals, founded in 1990 by Mikael Blomqvist in his garage in Karlskrona, where the company is still headquartered. Its growth came from the Multidiameter invention, rubber modules with peelable layers that fit cables and pipes of different sizes. Roxtec seals protect penetrations against fire, water, gas and explosion risk, and the company is owned by Mellby Gård.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Roxtec transits and modules for contractors, shipyards and plants in Oman and the GCC.

Roxtec product series
The RM multidiameter modules seal round cables and pipes of a range of sizes. Frames include the CF 16 cable transit frame for cabinets, the HD 16 stainless steel frame and the FlamePlus 6x1 fire-rated frame.
Seals are chosen for the hazards they must resist, such as water, gas, dust, fire, blast or electromagnetic interference, and must be installed with the correct packing and compression. Spare capacity can be left with solid modules for future cables.
Where Roxtec seals are used
Cable entries into cabinets, buildings, substations and shelters, walls and decks on ships and offshore units, and fire-rated wall penetrations.
