Servomex ServoTough SpectraExact 2500 Gas Analyzer

Description

Overview

The Servomex SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact 2500 is a photometric process analyzer using non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) measurement in a single-beam, dual-wavelength design. It monitors up to three components in a gas sample stream and is used for continuous process measurement in petrochemical and chemical plants. The current version is designated SpectraExact 2500F.

The non-depleting NDIR sensor reduces maintenance, and the removable sample cell simplifies servicing. The measured gas, range and hazardous-area version depend on the ordered configuration, so these are confirmed against the process application before quotation.

Servomex SpectraExact 2500 Selection Notes

Servomex configures each SpectraExact 2500 for a specific application, so the enquiry has to define the measurement before a model can be fixed. The manufacturer asks for the component or components to be measured (one to three per stream), the range and units, the other gases present and their concentrations, and the sample temperature, pressure, dew point and particulate loading at the analyzer inlet.

Wetted materials are chosen to suit the sample. A 316 stainless steel cell with Viton O-rings is the standard build. Hastelloy, Monel and titanium cells and PTFE or Chemraz seals are offered as options, and the window material depends on the spectroscopy of the measurement.

Other options to decide at order stage are sample pressure compensation for gas streams whose pressure varies, sample temperature compensation, a heated sample cell for measurement at constant temperature, and the extra output board. The supply voltage and frequency must also be stated.

Servomex SpectraExact 2500 Installation and Wiring Notes

The analyzer is wall mounted and connects to the sample line with 1/4 in OD tube. The sample must be clean, free of particulates and non-condensing at the operating temperature. The installation manual calls for at least 500 mm clearance to open the end covers, and the unit weighs from about 25 kg, so lifting and bracket strength need planning. The site altitude limit is 3,000 m. Relay contacts are rated 230 V AC / 0.5 A or 30 V DC / 0.5 A and are supplied set normally closed so that they fail safe on loss of power.

About brand

Gas analysis is all Servomex does, and the paramagnetic oxygen cell is the technology it is best known for. The company dates from 1952 and is based in Crowborough, United Kingdom. Seven Star LLC lists Servomex process, combustion, emissions and portable gas analyzers, plus accessories, and sources them for refineries, petrochemical plants and industrial gas producers in Oman.

Servomex analyzer families listed

Servomex groups its analyzers under family names that indicate where they can be used. SERVOTOUGH covers analyzers built for hazardous areas and field mounting, SERVOPRO covers units for general purpose areas and analyzer houses, and SERVOFLEX is the portable line. On this page:

  • SERVOTOUGH OxyExact 2200: paramagnetic oxygen analyzer for process control and safety
  • SERVOTOUGH SpectraExact 2500: photometric analyzer for process gas components
  • SERVOTOUGH Laser 3 Plus: compact tunable diode laser analyzer for combustion
  • SERVOPRO 4900 Multigas: multi-component analyzer for emissions monitoring
  • SERVOPRO NanoTrace DF-550E: ultra-trace oxygen analyzer for high purity gases
  • SERVOFLEX Micro i.s. 5100: intrinsically safe portable oxygen analyzer

A flow alarm relay box for the 2700 flue gas analyzer is also listed.

Where Servomex gas analyzers are used

Typical duties are oxygen measurement for inerting and blanketing, vapor recovery and flare header safety, combustion control on fired heaters and reformers, purity control in air separation and electronic gases, and continuous emissions monitoring. In the GCC the main users are refining, petrochemicals, fertilizer, LNG and industrial gas plants.

Ordering Servomex analyzers and spares: what we need

A Servomex gas analyzer is built to an order code that fixes the measured gas, range, sample wetted materials, outputs and hazardous area approval. For replacements and spare parts, send the model, the serial number and the order code from the data plate. For a new Servomex oxygen analyzer or multigas unit, send the full stream composition, the component and range to be measured, sample pressure and temperature, the area classification, power supply and communication needs. We check the configuration against Servomex documentation before quoting.
