Reelcraft RS7850 OLP 1/2 in. x 50 ft. REELSAFE Hose Reel
Description
A hose reel that retracts at walking pace instead of whipping back
The Reelcraft RS7850 OLP is a REELSAFE Series RS7000 controlled-return hose reel for air and water, with a 1/2 in. x 50 ft hose included. It pays out like a conventional reel but a centrifugal clutch built into the base slows retraction to an average walking speed.
Reelcraft says the clutch decelerates retraction by up to 83% compared with a Series 7000 reel, retracting at about 2 miles per hour, which is designed to match an average human walking speed of 2 to 3 mph. The integral clutch keeps a consistent speed regardless of fluid or environmental temperature, protects personnel and equipment, and needs no field adjustment.
REELSAFE points from the page
- Centrifugal clutch integral to the base; consistent retraction speed in any fluid or ambient temperature
- No field adjustment required
- Series 7000 chassis dimensions; hose included
- Made in the USA

RS code and fluid options
RS marks REELSAFE, 7850 the 1/2 in. by 50 ft Series 7000 size, and OLP low-pressure air/water; the manual lists RS7000 reels in OLP (air and water), OMP (oil) and OHP (grease) versions. The product page places this model under REELSAFE air and REELSAFE water reels. Choose a REELSAFE variant when hose snap-back is a concern, such as on low walkways or near equipment, since the clutch removes the pull of a normal spring reel.
Lead time is described on the page as an estimated 10 days, with a request to consult Reelcraft Customer Service for large quantities. The hose is included, so the main buying decision is the length and size: the manual lists RS7000 reels from 3/8 in. to 3/4 in., and 50 ft is the common length for the 1/2 in. size.
Installation points from instructions 1311-1119
Instructions 1311-1119 set the usual limit of 16 ft mounting height. The arm can be turned to top, side or bottom wind, and the U-bolt must be re-seated when it moves or the reel can latch out. Before any service the manual wants the hose rewound and system pressure bled down.
- Input: a flexible hose with sealant on the thread; the output connection is made without sealant on bare-hose versions.
- Priming: open the valve briefly, shut it once fluid appears, then free the latch and wind the hose on.
- Drive spring work: hold the middle of the spring down while the hub is pulled, because it can escape with force.
- Owner tasks are limited to hose replacement.
Where controlled retraction matters
Controlled return suits busy workshops, assembly lines, wash bays and aisles where a fast-retracting hose end could strike people or equipment. The 150 F ceiling and 300 psi rating are for compressed air and water, not oils; for oil, refer to the Series 7000 reels. Mount at a height the manual permits and keep the reel clear of heat sources. Pair the reel with a hose-end control valve and a bumper so the nozzle stops cleanly at the guide arm; the controlled return reduces impact but the bumper still protects the nozzle. A slower return also gives the user time to guide the hose onto the spool, which reduces hose wear.
Selection and installation notes
A hose or cord reel is selected from the fluid or service, the hose size and length, the working pressure and the mounting position. Check that the hose, swivel and fittings are rated for the fluid and the pressure, mount the reel on a solid surface with the bolts and base the maker recommends, set the spring tension with the hose held, guide the hose to the reel without sharp bends and replace the hose at the first sign of wear. Do not use the reel for a fluid it is not rated for.

Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
