Brand: Caprari
Caprari MEC-MG, MEC-AG and BHG Flanged Pumps for Diesel Engines
Description
Pumps built to bolt straight onto a diesel engine
The Caprari MEC-MG, MEC-AG and BHG series are centrifugal pumps with a flanged front for direct mounting on diesel (thermal) engines, using SAE bell-housing flanges SAE 3, SAE 4 and SAE 5. Caprari lists them in one catalogue (code 996956C/11-25) with delivery sizes from DN65 and DN80 through DN100 and DN125 to the large BHG200 and BHG250. Ports are axial at suction and radial at delivery, normally pointing upward, and both 90 degree positions are available on request.
This arrangement is common in engine-driven irrigation, water transfer, dewatering and fire-fighting sets where no mains electricity is available. The catalogue states the pumps are suitable for clean, chemically and mechanically non-aggressive fresh water, with a maximum solids content of 20 g/m3 of silt hardness and grain size, and that special versions for other liquids and higher working temperatures can be supplied on request for the MEC-AG.

Weights and dimensions are listed per model in the catalogue; for example, MEC-MG65 types run from 141 to 162.5 kg and MEC-MG100 types from 253 to 312 kg (as printed in the weight column). Because operating data are tabulated by speed, with head H and power P for each impeller combination, pick the pump at the engine speed actually available.
Coding, options and materials
The pump code starts with the series (MEC-MG, MEC-AG or BHG), followed by the delivery DN, an H3, H4 or H5 mark for the SAE flange, the number of stages, impeller reduction and variants. Executions on demand listed in the catalogue are a mechanical seal, H for bronze impellers, L or M for the delivery port pointing right or left as seen from the suction side, and D for gland packing; for the BHG they are H for bronze impellers, W for an upward-pointing delivery port and Z for a stainless steel shaft.
On the MEC-MG the delivery body, suction support, impellers, diffuser, cooling jacket and wear rings are cast iron, the shaft is stainless steel with a steel sleeve, the bearing bush is bronze and the stuffing box and gland packing are HT composite. Some H4 and H5 versions use nodular cast iron for the delivery body, and DN80 versions use a GORE-TEX ribbon packing. Screws and nuts are stainless steel. The MEC-AG and BHG lists use similar cast iron and nodular cast iron parts, a stainless impeller nut and, on the BHG, a stainless spill ring.
Selection and installation notes
Start from flow and head at the engine speed, then choose the stage count and impeller combination from the operating data and confirm the speed limit in the technical data table. The catalogue includes an explicit warning: MEC-MG100 pumps are not suitable for a centrifugal coupling because of its high torsional stiffness, so use a coupling type suitable for the engine and flange. Check the SAE bell-housing of the engine against SAE 3, 4 or 5 before ordering.
Do not run the pump with a closed discharge for more than 10 minutes at 40 C, and keep solids to 20 g/m3. For mechanical seal selection, the catalogue states that the chemical and physical data of the liquid and the working conditions must be known.
Selection and installation notes
Select a pump from the duty point: the flow, the head, the liquid and its temperature, the supply voltage and the expected operating hours. Check the electrical supply and cable size against the motor rating, install the pump as the manual shows on a firm base with pipework that does not strain the ports, protect the motor against overload and dry running, and fit non-return and isolation valves in the delivery line. Keep the installation and commissioning record, and plan routine inspection of seals, bearings and wear parts.
For a pump driven by a diesel engine, check the bell-housing flange size, the shaft coupling, the engine speed and the power available before ordering.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
Use in GCC water projects
Diesel-driven flanged pumps are used for irrigation of farms and landscaping, construction dewatering, water transfer from wells or tanks and temporary supply where power is not available. The catalogue does not print fire-pump, UL or FM approvals for these models, so none is claimed; fire systems should use a certified package.
The official Caprari catalogue is attached. Related pumps are listed under pumps. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat: send the engine make and SAE flange, speed, flow and head, and liquid details and we will confirm the series and model against the Caprari catalogue before quoting.
