Caprari Desert E4X and E6X Sand-Resistant Borehole Pumps
Description
Compact 4 and 6 inch borehole pumps for sand-laden wells
The Caprari Desert E4X and E6X pumps are submersible borehole pumps for small and medium wells, made in stainless steel with technopolymer impellers and diffusers and aimed at high concentrations of solids and sand. Caprari positions the range for water supply, professional agriculture, industries, water collection and distribution and solar systems, and describes the Desert construction as compact and corrosion-resistant. The technical catalogue (code 996390E/04-25) covers 4 inch (E4X) and 6 inch (E6X) wet ends on 2 poles at 50 Hz.
The earlier Desert leaflet (code 996167B/03-20, listed on the same Caprari product page) highlights the features that set Desert apart: an innovative stainless steel valve casing in high-precision cast AISI 304 with no additional check valve required, a no-block cable guard folded at the ends so it does not detach during installation, bearing bush and shaft protection from contact with the liquid, sand-proof sleeves and the patented SAND-OUT system wear ring. The extra performance PD models extend the solids limit for extremely high sand content.

Code reading, motors and selection
A wet-end code such as E4XED 25-4/31-V reads: E4X series, ED Desert, hydraulic number 25, 4 inch motor flange, 31 stages, and -V for 50 Hz service. E6XD 20-6/30-V is the 6 inch Desert version with 30 stages, E6XDB marks the intermediate casing construction with an intermediate bearing support, E4XPD or E6XPD mark the Extra Performance variants, and a letter after the stage number such as 3A marks impeller trimming. Motors are MC (4 inch), MPC and MAC (6 inch), with codes such as MCK43-8 or MAC65A-8 giving diameter, power in CV and construction features.
Motor limits by diameter are 4 inch MC up to 7.5 kW, 6 inch MPC up to 37 kW, and 6 inch MAC up to 45 kW (the sheet notes 37 kW for MAC6../3A). The motor options on request include high-temperature, high-solids MAC6../3C PLUS motors designed as the best choice for variable speed drives, and special materials for aggressive water. A technician sizing from the catalogue should also read the cable, generator, reactive power and accessory pages that follow the operating tables.
Where sand-resistant pumps earn their place
Wells in arid regions often pump sand with the water, and the Desert range is specified for solids up to 300 g/m3 and the Extra Performance PD for up to 450 g/m3, well above the 50 g/m3 of a standard Caprari borehole pump. That makes it a candidate for farm, camp, community and industrial supply wells in sandy aquifers. The standard construction suits water that is chemically and mechanically non-aggressive for the components; Caprari lists special materials for aggressive water only as an option.
This catalogue prints no drinking-water, ATEX or marine approvals for the Desert pumps, so none is claimed. A sizing check against the well log, pumping level and water analysis remains the engineer responsibility.
Selection and installation notes
A borehole pump must be matched to the well: confirm the casing diameter, the pumping water level, the depth of installation, the sand content and the water quality before ordering. Keep the motor submerged and above the well bottom, use a cooling sleeve where the manual asks for one, protect the motor with the right starter and cable and start the pump against a throttled valve until the water runs clear.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
