Brand:

Additel ADT681A Wireless Digital Pressure Gauge, Up to 0.01% FS

Description

A reference-grade digital gauge with a phone link and a 10-million-point logger

The Additel ADT681A is a digital pressure gauge built for people who need more than a replacement for a dial gauge. It reaches 0.01% of full span on gauge and compound ranges, offers a 0.1% of reading mode for wide-range work and logs up to 10,000,000 readings. A wide-angle display shows the main value in large digits with a fan-shaped graphic that indicates percent of range, so a reading can be taken from a few metres away.

Bluetooth BLE 4.2 connects the gauge to the Additel Link mobile app, and USB-C and RS232 ports are provided for wired use. The stainless steel shell and fully welded sensor are rated IP67 (1 metre immersion for 30 minutes), so it handles wet work as well as laboratory verification.

Features from the datasheet

  • Ranges from -14.5 psi vacuum up to 60,000 psi (4,200 bar) in gauge, compound and sealed gauge forms.
  • Absolute pressure calculated from gauge pressure and the optional built-in barometer (BP is +/-55 Pa, BPH +/-22 Pa).
  • Differential ranges from +/-1 inH2O to +/-300 inH2O with barb fittings and static pressure limits listed per range.
  • Multifunction display: peak values, TARE, leak test, percentage, time and logging status.
  • Full temperature-compensated accuracy from -10 to 50 C.

Reading the order code

A typical code reads ADT681A-01-GP300-PSI-N-DL-BP. After the model come the accuracy (01, 02, 05, 10, 20 or RD), the range part number from the table (here GP300, a 300 psi gauge range), the range type (PSI, BAR or H2O), the pressure port (N is 1/4 NPT male, N2 1/2 NPT, B and B2 BSP, M M20 x 1.5, AF and AM Autoclave), DL for data logging and BP for the built-in barometer. On the GP2 and CP2 ranges the 0.01% FS accuracy applies to gas media only, so confirm the media when choosing the top accuracy.

Using it in the field

Two points matter most for site safety. The standard ADT681A is not intrinsically safe, and the datasheet says the USB-C and RS232 connectors must not be used in a hazardous area, nor should the batteries be replaced there. Where explosive atmospheres are possible, order the ADT681AEx instead. The sensor is powered continuously in the default super-stable mode, which improves resolution and reduces humidity effects, while the low-power mode switches the sensor off between samples to extend battery life.

Filtering can be set to an average of 3 to 10 samples or a first-order low-pass, which helps on pulsating lines. Sealed gauge construction applies above 1,000 psi, so do not expect vented-gauge behaviour at those ranges. The membrane buttons wipe clean, and the optional all-weather cover and rubber boot protect the display during outdoor use.

Typical duties in Oman and the GCC

Plant calibration teams use gauges like this as a transfer standard for pressure transmitters, test gauges and relief devices on hydraulic and pneumatic test rigs. The 0.1% of reading mode suits wide-range testing, and the logger records leak and hold tests on pipelines and pressure vessels so the data can be filed with commissioning records. Coastal and desert sites benefit from the IP67 case and stainless wetted parts.

Selection and installation notes

Pressure instruments are only as good as their set-up. Check that the pressure range and fitting thread match the system, use the correct adapter and seal, vent the line before connecting and keep the device within its stated temperature range. Leave time for the reading to settle and zero the instrument at atmospheric pressure when the procedure requires it. Keep calibration certificates on file, and plan the re-calibration interval according to your quality system and the duty of the instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions

What accuracy options does the Additel ADT681A offer?
The datasheet lists 0.01%, 0.02% or 0.05% of full span, a 0.1% of reading option (RD) and, for the highest ranges, 0.1% or 0.2% FS. The exact figure depends on the range code in the order.
Can the ADT681A measure absolute and differential pressure?
Yes. It is listed for gauge, compound, absolute (calculated from gauge pressure and barometric pressure), differential and barometric pressure, with the range part number selecting the type.
How does the ADT681A communicate?
It has Bluetooth BLE 4.2, a USB-C port and an RS232 port. The datasheet warns not to use the USB-C or RS232 connector in a hazardous area.
How much data can the ADT681A log?
The optional data logging stores up to 10,000,000 time and pressure records, or 5,000,000 records with temperature, at user-selected intervals from 0.1 s and 1 to 99,999 s.
Is there an intrinsically safe 681A?
Yes, the ADT681AEx. The datasheet prints Ex ia IIC T4 Ga for the EU and Class I Zone 0 AEx ia IIC T4 Ga for North America, at -20 to 50 C. Check the certificate for your site.
