JUMO STEAMtemp Steam-Tight Push-In RTD Thermometer

Description

Steam-tight push-in Pt100 probe for sterilizers

The JUMO STEAMtemp (type 902830) is a push-in resistance thermometer in a steam-tight version, intended for temperature measurement in sterilizers and other pressurised atmospheres containing steam. It covers temperatures from -70 to +200 C and comes as a single, twin or triple Pt100 element in 2-, 3- or 4-wire circuit.

A flexible connecting cable in PTFE, FEP or silicone leaves the probe through a strain-relieved connection, and the cable ends can be bare, fitted with ferrules, receptacles or a multipole connector. The protection tube is 1.4571 stainless steel with 4, 4.5 or 6 mm diameter, and the version has IP69 protection. Type 902830/30 is pressure-tight up to 5.0 bar.

Typical use

Sterilizers and autoclaves need probes that stay tight in steam, so the sheath and cable exit are made for pressurised, humid atmospheres. Laboratories and plant construction use the same probe where a thin, flexible sensor must be pushed into a small opening.

Order code groups cover the basic version, the cable type, the measuring insert, the tolerance class, the tube diameter, the fitting length, the cable end and the cable length, so the part number can be written precisely. The data sheet also lists stock versions with sales numbers, for example a 6 mm Class A probe with PTFE cable and 100 mm fitting length, which helps when a quick replacement is needed.

Specifying a probe

State the number of Pt100 elements and the circuit, because the 4.5 mm tube is offered for two measuring circuits in 4-wire. As a derived example, a validation loop with a redundant check sensor uses a twin Pt100 in 3-wire circuit.

The data sheet is an older edition (08.05), so confirm availability and the current order options before ordering. Also check that the maximum cable temperature is above your sterilisation cycle and that the cable end suits your connector. For validation work, ask whether a calibration certificate is needed, since the Class A tolerance of the Pt100 element is the starting point and a certificate documents the real deviation at your test points, for example at 121 C.

Documents and quotation

Quote requests are handled from this page: attach your tag list or the full code, and note the element count, cable type and fitting length. The attached PDF (JUMO STEAMtemp data sheet 902830 (EN)) is the reference for every value above, and it should be checked again for the final configuration. See also Temperature Instrumentation.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
