JUMO dTRANS T07 Two-Channel HART Temperature Transmitter

Description

HART 7 two-channel temperature transmitter with SIL 2/3 and Ex

The JUMO dTRANS T07 (type 707080, with variants 707081 to 707088) is a two-channel temperature transmitter with HART 7 communication, supplied for mounting in a B-head (707080 to 707081, 707085, 707086) or on a DIN rail (707082, 707083, 707087, 707088). It converts signals from RTD probes, thermocouples, resistors and voltage sources into a loop-powered 4 to 20 mA output and can monitor two independent sensors.

JUMO gives its accuracy as 0.1 K with a Pt100 and states SIL 2/3 hardware and software suitability to IEC 61508 for the SIL versions, with the HART protocol extended for secure HART. Chemicals, oil, gas, and power and energy plants are named as target industries. The variants with Ex approval carry ATEX and IECEx certificates for intrinsically safe circuits.

Choosing the variant

The last digit pair of the order code selects the type. 707080 is the plain B-head unit, 707081 adds SIL, 707082 and 707083 are DIN-rail versions without and with SIL, and 707085 to 707088 are the Ex equivalents. The configuration code 8 stands for default settings (0 to 100 C, Pt100 three-wire circuit, 4 to 20 mA), and the connection code 06 is screw terminals. The SIL variants include a SIL safety manual and the Ex variants an Ex safety manual in the scope of delivery.

Accessories with part numbers include the plug-on display BD7 (00672701), the AB7 terminal head (00672702), the FG7 field housing with display window (00672705), a wall mounting set (00672707), a pipe mounting set (00672708) and a HART modem.

Application notes

Use a two-channel transmitter to average, subtract or compare two sensors, or for redundant sensors on a critical bearing or reactor point; both channels must be configured in the same unit, and measuring resistance and voltage together on two channels is not possible. Corrosion detection to NAMUR NE89 helps spot degraded sensor wiring.

Pair it with a probe such as the JUMO PROCESStemp for chemical and petrochemical duty. For Ex installations, check the marking of the exact type against the zone, and use the Ex safety manual for loop parameters.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
