Tokyo Keiso MASSMAX 2400R Coriolis Mass Flowmeter

Description

Straight twin-tube Coriolis meter for large liquid flows

The Tokyo Keiso MASSMAX 2400R series is a Coriolis mass flowmeter developed for large pipes and high flow rates. A straight twin measuring tube is difficult to make in large sizes, but it keeps pressure loss low and allows self-cleaning in applications that need both. Stainless-steel wetted parts and a reinforced outer housing give a standard pressure resistance of 10 MPa, which Tokyo Keiso highlights for chemical and petrochemical service.

One meter reports instantaneous and totalised mass flow, density and temperature. It can be supplied as a compact meter or as a remote sensor with a separate converter. The catalogue states compliance with DNV GL and Lloyd’s Register ship classification for the remote type, and Japanese explosion-proof approval for the compact type.

Using the meter in process and transfer duty

The catalogue positions the 2400R for controlling and transferring liquids at large flow rates where a bent-tube design would impose too much pressure loss. Mass flow, density and temperature can each be assigned to a current output, and up to three 4-20 mA outputs or a combined set of current, pulse and status outputs can be ordered. Process effects after zero adjustment are quantified: 0.0008% of maximum flow per degree Celsius and 0.0002% per 0.1 MPa of fluid pressure.

Standard functions include user-defined units, bidirectional totalisation, self-diagnosis based on tube oscillation, a built-in output simulator for loop checks and optical touch keys for operation with the cover closed.

Points to confirm before ordering

  • The catalogue is inconsistent about sizes: one list names 100, 150 and 400 mm while the flow table and text also show a 250 size and describe four sizes from 100 to 400 mm. Size 400 is marked as in preparation, so confirm availability.
  • Material option for the line: standard S31803 or super duplex, and NACE-approved flanges where sour service applies.
  • Compact or remote construction, and the explosion-proof and marine approvals needed.

How the Tokyo Keiso MASSMAX 2400R works

Liquid flows through two straight measuring tubes that vibrate at their natural frequency. The mass flow causes a small twist in the tube motion. Sensors pick up the twist, and the converter turns it into mass flow. The vibration frequency gives the density, and a temperature sensor gives the fluid temperature.

Where the MASSMAX 2400R is used

  • Chemical plants
  • Petrochemical plants
  • Loading and transfer lines
  • Large pipes with high flow rates
  • Lines where pressure loss must stay low

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the MASSMAX 2400R

Support the pipe so that no strain reaches the meter. Fit it so that the tubes stay full of liquid. Wire the power and the outputs. Perform a zero adjustment with the tubes full and the flow stopped. Check the zero value at regular intervals.
