Klinger top-chem 2005 Acid-Resistant PTFE Gasket Sheet

Description

Red inorganic-filled PTFE aimed at strongly acidic duty

KLINGER top-chem 2005 is a PTFE material with inorganic fillers, supplied as a red sheet. Klinger names outstanding performance and high chemical resistance in strongly acidic applications, suitability for a wide range of chemical-industry uses and a role as an economical alternative among filled PTFE gaskets.

The product page lists use mainly in acids, consistent material composition and resistance to cold flow as features, and excellent chemical resistance, very good mechanical properties at medium temperatures and no ageing as benefits. Sheets are 1500 x 1500 mm in 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 mm thickness.

Where top-chem 2005 sits in the PTFE line

Mechanically the sheet is firm: 4 % compressibility, 40 % recovery, y 12 MPa and m 2.8, with a tightness of 0.02 mg/(s x m) and a specific leak rate of 8.75E-07 mbar x l/(s x m), the lowest leak rate printed for the PTFE grades. Thickness decrease under 50 MPa is 5 % at 23 °C and 35 % at 260 °C, which is a clear step above top-chem 2000 and a reminder to keep temperature moderate.

Immersion in 100 % sulfuric and nitric acid produced 1 % thickness change and 1 to 2 % weight change; no value is printed for caustic soda, so choose top-chem 2006 for strongly alkaline media. Approvals include DIN-DVGW, WRAS, DNV, TA-Luft, FDA conformity of components, Regulation (EU) 1935/2004 and VDI 2200 blowout.

Documents, ordering details and quotation

Include acid type and concentration, because the datasheet gives no caustic value for this grade. For a firm quotation please give the medium, pressure, temperature, flange details, bolt load available, thickness and quantity, and say if you need whole sheets or finished gaskets. As Klinger itself points out, the printed data cannot cover every installation, so have the final choice reviewed against the actual operating conditions. More products are shown in gaskets, seals and pipe fittings.

About brand

KLINGER is the Austrian sealing and valve group behind the KLINGERSIL fibre gasket sheets and the top-chem PTFE sheets. Richard Klinger founded the company in Vienna in 1886, and its headquarters is in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria. In 1898 he developed Klingerit, a fibre-reinforced gasket material, and in 1982 KLINGERSIL replaced asbestos with aramid fibres.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list KLINGER gasket sheets in fibre, graphite and PTFE grades, and supply them to refineries, plants and fabricators in Oman and the GCC by grade, thickness and sheet size.

KLINGER at a glance

Established 1886, Vienna, Austria, by Richard Klinger; headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen
Milestones Reflex water level gauge in the 1880s and 1890s; Klingerit fibre-reinforced gasket in 1898; asbestos-free KLINGERSIL in 1982
Product families Compressed fibre gasket sheets, PTFE sheets, graphite sheets, cut gaskets, valves and level gauges
Applications Flanged joints on steam, water, oil, gas, chemical and acid lines

KLINGER gasket sheets we list

Grade Material Typical use
KLINGERSIL C-4400, C-4300 Aramid fibre, NBR binder General service: water, steam, oils, fuels and gases
KLINGERSIL C-4324, C-4430 Synthetic fibre, NBR binder Water, steam, oils and gases; grade checked against the pT diagram for the duty
KLINGERSIL C-4500 Carbon fibre, NBR binder Hot oil, heat transfer fluids and alkaline media
top-graph 2000 Graphite fibre, NBR binder High temperature service with good sealing under lower bolt loads
Quantum Fibre sheet, HNBR binder High temperature service where NBR-bound sheets age too fast
top-chem 2000, 2003, 2005 Filled PTFE Acids, alkalis, solvents and other aggressive chemicals

The gasket grade is chosen from the medium, the temperature, the pressure and the flange. Fibre sheets with an NBR binder cover most utility and hydrocarbon service. HNBR and graphite grades move the temperature limit up. Filled PTFE sheets handle strong chemicals, with the filler (silicon carbide, glass microspheres or another acid-resistant filler) setting creep resistance and chemical range. Thinner gaskets generally seal better under the same bolt load.

Where KLINGER gaskets are used

In Oman and the GCC, KLINGER sheets and cut gaskets seal flanges in refineries, gas plants, petrochemical and fertiliser plants, power and desalination stations, and steam and water systems in industry and buildings.

Ordering KLINGER sheets and gaskets: what we need

Send the grade, thickness (for example 1.5, 2 or 3 mm) and sheet size, or for cut gaskets the flange standard, size and pressure class. For a new duty, send the medium, the temperature and the pressure so the grade can be checked against KLINGER's pT diagram.

Facts checked against KLINGER company history, October 2026.
