Brand:

Hatz D-Series 1D90 Single-Cylinder Air-Cooled Diesel Engine

Description

The single-cylinder diesel built for high output and hard use

The Hatz 1D90 is the top model of the Hatz D-Series, a range of air-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engines. Hatz states that with 11.2 kilowatts the 1D90 is the highest-output single-cylinder diesel engine in the world. The series is aimed at demanding duty, from very low temperatures to tropical climates, and the engines can be configured with up to three different power take-offs, which gives machine builders more options than a typical engine in this class.

The data sheet covers seven versions: 1D42, 1D50, 1D81, 1D81C, 1D90E, 1D90 and 1D90V. The 1D90E belongs to the Hatz E1 family with electronic injection and a standard CAN J1939 interface, and the 1D81C is the Silent Pack version in a sound-insulated capsule. The 1D90V has a vertical crankshaft; the other engines use a horizontal one.

Quiet running, Silent Pack and emissions

Compensation weights on the flywheel-side crank arm and balance weights cast into the flywheel are used for smooth running, and counter-rotating balance shafts are available as an option for complete first-order balancing. The Silent Pack is a sheet-metal capsule with structure-borne sound insulation; Hatz quotes a noise reduction of up to 12 dB at a distance of 7 m, with all control and service points reachable from outside and the silencer housed in a separate capsule over the flywheel.

All engines are sold at the highest emission level Hatz offers even where the law does not require it. The 1D90E meets EPA Tier 4 final and EU Stage V, and Hatz offers it with an optional passive diesel particulate filter for EU Stage V in defined applications. For markets with less regulation the data sheet lists additional speed ranges from 1500 to 3600 rpm depending on model.

Choosing between the D-Series versions

Select by required power at the working speed first. The data sheet gives IFN power for intermittent loading per ISO 3046-1 separately for variable speed and constant speed, with extra rows for less regulated markets, and notes that power falls about 1 percent per 100 m above 100 m altitude and about 4 percent per 10 degrees C above 25 degrees C. Power taken by the charging alternator must be added to the load.

Then confirm the power take-off arrangement, starter voltage (12 V at 2.0 kW or 24 V at 3.0 kW), crank-handle or electric start, mechanical or electronic control, the emission certificate for the destination and the installation dimensions and permitted inclination of 25 to 30 degrees depending on type. Detailed drawings can be obtained from the manufacturer.

How the Hatz 1D90 works

A single piston burns diesel fuel in one cylinder and turns the crankshaft. Cooling air from a fan on the flywheel passes over the cylinder, so the engine needs no water. The crankshaft drives the machine through a power take-off.

About brand

Hatz is a German maker of industrial diesel engines, founded in 1880 and based in Ruhstorf an der Rott.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Hatz engines for equipment builders and owners in Oman and the GCC.

Hatz product series

Air-cooled engines include the B-Series 1B30 and the D-Series 1D90 single-cylinder diesels. Liquid-cooled engines include the F-Series 3F45 with open power unit and the H-Series 4H50TIC common-rail diesel.

The fiPMG is a flywheel-integrated permanent magnet generator for power generation.

Air-cooled engines need no radiator or coolant and suit hot, dusty and remote sites, while liquid-cooled engines give lower noise and higher power. Engines are selected by power at the operating speed, drive arrangement and emission requirements.

Open power units include the engine with cooling and controls ready to fit to the driven machine.

Where Hatz engines are used

Pumps, compressors, generators, lighting towers, construction and agricultural machines.
