Differential Pressure Flowmeters

Differential pressure flowmeters create a pressure drop across a primary element and calculate flow from it, a proven method for liquids, gases and steam. Types of DP flowmeter in this category

Orifice plates and assemblies such as the ABB FPD150, FPD160, FPD175 and FPD190 restriction plates, the Daniel Senior dual-chamber orifice fitting and the JUMO flowTRANS DP R meter run are used for process and fiscal measurement. Averaging pitot tubes like the ABB Torbar FPD350 and PitotMaster FPD550 and the JUMO flowTRANS DP P have low pressure loss, and compact or integral meters such as the ABB OriMaster FPD500, IOMaster FPD510, 1330L and Rosemount 3051CF combine element and transmitter. How to select a DP flowmeter

Define the fluid, flow range, pressure, temperature, line size and allowable pressure loss. Orifice plates are economical and standardised (ISO 5167), pitot tubes suit large lines with low loss, and V-Cone meters need shorter straight runs. Specify the DP transmitter, manifold, materials and flange rating.
