Types of gas analyzer in this category
- Oxygen analyzers: paramagnetic, zirconia and electrochemical instruments for percent, trace and ultra-trace O2, fixed and portable, from Servomex, Southland Sensing, Systech and Teledyne.
- Sulfur analyzers: H2S analyzers for natural gas and fuel gas, plus tail gas and sulfur pit analyzers for sulfur recovery units.
- Gas chromatographs for BTU, heating value and hydrocarbon composition.
- Moisture and dew point analyzers from Michell Instruments, Panametrics and BARTEC.
- Tunable diode laser analyzers for H2S, CO2 and H2O in natural gas.
- Portable flue gas analyzers from Testo for burner and boiler checks.
How to choose an industrial process gas analyzer
Start from the component and its range, then look at everything else in the stream. The background gas decides which measuring principle will work, because most principles respond to more than one species. A zirconia cell, for example, reads low when the sample contains combustibles, and an infrared bench needs compensation when another gas absorbs in the same band. Sample pressure, temperature, dust and liquid carry-over decide how much sample conditioning is needed in front of an extractive analyzer, or if an in-situ laser measurement across the duct is the simpler route.
Analyzers mounted in classified areas are normally built with flameproof enclosures or a purged and pressurized cabinet and carry ATEX or IECEx certification. Sales gas measurements in the GCC usually follow the gas quality specification of the pipeline operator, so state the method or standard written in your specification.
What to send for a gas analyzer quotation
Give us the gas to be measured and its range, the full stream composition, sample pressure and temperature, the area classification, the required outputs and the power supply available. If you are replacing an existing analyzer, the model and serial number are the most direct route to a correct offer. We check the configuration against the manufacturer documentation, propose the manufacturer’s successor when a model is obsolete, and provide the datasheet and the manufacturer’s certificates on request.
What to include in your inquiry
These details let us quote the right item the first time.
- Gas to be measured and its range
- Background gas composition
- Sample pressure and temperature
- Area classification
- Output and communication
- Model and serial number for spare parts
Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Paramagnetic analyzers suit percent-level oxygen in a clean, dry sample, and the sensor is not consumed by the measurement. Zirconia cells work at high temperature, which makes them the usual choice for flue gas and for trace oxygen in inert gases, but combustibles in the sample cause a low reading. Electrochemical cells cover trace and percent ranges, and the cell is a consumable that must be replaced periodically.
Water dew point is the temperature at which water vapor starts to condense from the gas, and it is measured with a moisture sensor, a laser or a chilled-mirror instrument. Hydrocarbon dew point is the temperature at which the heavier hydrocarbons condense, measured by optical detection on a cooled surface or calculated from a chromatograph analysis. Both values depend on pressure, so always state the pressure at which the limit applies.
Yes. Send the model code, serial number and the application data from the original datasheet. We check in the manufacturer documentation which current model replaces it and confirm that the measuring principle, range, outputs and hazardous-area approval still fit your stream. Where the sample system is kept, tell us its flow, pressure and connection sizes so the new analyzer can be matched to it.
For analyzers going into classified areas, the ATEX or IECEx certificate of the instrument or of its purge system is the main document. Manufacturers also issue a factory test or calibration report, a declaration of conformity and operating manuals, and on request material certificates for wetted parts. We pass on the manufacturer's datasheet and the certificates the manufacturer issues. List the required documents in your inquiry.
The measured component and range, the complete stream composition including contaminants, sample pressure and temperature at the tap, the distance from tap to analyzer, area classification, ambient conditions, signal outputs and power supply. Also say if you need the analyzer alone or with a sample conditioning system and shelter, and attach the datasheet or specification if one exists.
