Ubiquiti UDR Dream Router Wi-Fi 6 Cloud Gateway with PoE

Description

The Ubiquiti UDR (Dream Router) is a compact cloud gateway with built-in Wi-Fi 6, a four-port Gigabit LAN switch, a Gigabit WAN port and two PoE outputs, in a cylindrical polycarbonate body 110 mm across and 184.1 mm tall. It has a 0.96 inch status display.

Wi-Fi is 4×4 on both bands at 26 dBm, with 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2.4 Gbps on 5 GHz.

Router, controller and access point for a small site

The UDR places a router, a UniFi Network controller, a Wi-Fi 6 radio and a small PoE switch in one device, so a shop, villa or small office can run a managed UniFi network from a single unit. Two ports supply PoE (15.4 W each, 40 W budget) for an extra access point or a camera. The tech specs page lists 20 or more UniFi devices, 150 or more simultaneous users and 1 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput with UniFi OS 4.1 or later.

Features from the datasheet and tech specs

  • Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 4×4 MIMO on 2.4 and 5 GHz
  • Max TX power 26 dBm on both bands; antenna gain 3.4 dBi and 4.3 dBi
  • Coverage 140 square metres (tech specs, a planning value)
  • 300+ concurrent Wi-Fi clients, 8 BSSIDs per radio, 802.1Q VLAN, per-user rate limiting, guest isolation
  • microSD slot (card of at least 128 GB required); built-in 128 GB SSD for detection recordings (tech specs)
  • LAN 4 x GbE, WAN 1 x GbE; two ports with PoE (15.4 W per port, 40 W budget)
  • Dual-core Arm Cortex A53 at 1.35 GHz; 2 GB memory

What the UDR does and does not replace

The UDR is a single-WAN device with Gigabit ports, so it fits internet plans up to about 1 Gbps; for 10G links or multi-WAN use the UDM-Pro. Its single internal antenna covers one room or a small floor, and a larger site still needs extra access points, which the PoE ports can feed.

Capacity note (derived): the radios add up to 3.0 Gbps (600 Mbps plus 2.4 Gbps), but the WAN port is 1 Gbps, so internet traffic is limited to the port speed while local traffic can run faster. The tech specs list 5 HD, 2 2K or 1 4K cameras for UniFi Protect on this unit and a built-in 128 GB SSD for detection recordings.

Installation and operation

Place the cylinder upright on a shelf or desk with open air around it, connect the ISP modem to WAN, plug LAN devices and set up through the UniFi app over Bluetooth or Ethernet. Do not enclose it in a cabinet. Its rated range is -10 to 45 C.

GCC applications

Typical uses are small offices, shops, clinics, serviced apartments and villas across Oman and the GCC where one device must provide routing and Wi-Fi.

Selection and installation notes

Plan the network device from the site layout and the load it will carry. Check the power source and the PoE budget, the port speeds and uplinks, the operating temperature range and the mounting position, keep a margin on the number of clients and cameras, and set a strong administrator password when the device is first adopted into the management system. Back up the configuration after commissioning and record the firmware version.

Before ordering, compare the ratings on the data sheet with the project specification, check the connection sizes and the supply conditions, and confirm which accessories, spares and documents travel with the unit. On delivery, inspect the packing, compare the nameplate with the order and keep the manual with the site records so that later commissioning and maintenance work can follow the maker instructions. Ask us if any detail is unclear and we will check it with the supplier before the order is placed.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
