A cylindrical roller bearing for heavy radial loads and free axial movement
The NSK NU210EW is a single-row cylindrical roller bearing with a 50 mm bore, 90 mm outside diameter and 20 mm width. In the NU type the outer ring has two ribs and the inner ring has none, so the inner ring can slide axially relative to the outer ring. NSK states that types NU, N, NNU and NN are suitable as free-end bearings, which makes the NU210EW the normal partner of a locating bearing such as a double-row angular contact or four-point bearing in pump, gearbox and electric motor shafts, where thermal growth must be absorbed without axial stress. The E in the designation marks the high load capacity internal design with optimised roller crowning.

Choosing the type and the cage
NSK classifies single-row cylindrical roller bearings by their ribs. NU and N types are free-end bearings. NJ and NF types can sustain limited axial loads in one direction, and NUP and NH types can be used as fixed-end bearings; the NH type is an NJ bearing combined with an HJ L-shaped thrust collar. The inner ring loose rib of the NUP type must be mounted with its marked side outward. The standard cage for the E series is pressed steel (W); machined brass (M), polyamide 66 (T) and L-PPS resin (T7) cages are listed as options.
Cylindrical roller bearings need a minimum radial load to prevent skidding, and they do not tolerate misalignment as well as spherical roller bearings, so shaft and housing alignment matters.
