A full complement CARB bearing for slow, very heavily loaded non-locating positions
The SKF C 3120 V is a full complement CARB toroidal roller bearing with a cylindrical 100 mm bore, 165 mm outside diameter and 52 mm width. It has no cage: the bearing uses as many rollers as the raceway can hold, which gives the highest possible load rating, 475 kN dynamic and 655 kN static, but lowers the permitted speed to 1 300 r/min. According to the SKF product page, a full complement CARB bearing has a lower speed rating and uses the maximum number of rollers.
Like every CARB bearing it accommodates misalignment and axial displacement within the bearing. It suits slow, heavily loaded shafts that grow with temperature, where a conventional spherical roller bearing in the free position would put axial stress on the locating bearing.

Full complement design and designation
C is the CARB type, 31 the dimension series and 20 gives the 100 mm bore. The V suffix marks the full complement of rollers retained by a retaining ring. In the SKF brochure, full complement CARB bearings carry considerably higher load capacity than same-size bearings with a cage, and the standard assortment includes sealed full complement bearings for low speeds. The product listing for this size also shows a C3 clearance version, C 3120 V/C3.
The product page prints two axial displacement values, s1 of up to 10.1 mm and s2 of up to 4.7 mm, as printed by SKF. The misalignment factor k1 is 0.11 and the internal clearance factor k2 is 0.1 in the SKF calculation method.
Selection and ordering notes
Because the speed limit is low, use grease or oil with a proper viscosity for slow-running roller bearings and keep the bearing clean. The shaft abutment must stay between 111 and 136 mm, and the housing abutment must not exceed 154 mm, with fillet radii of 2 mm or less. Rings can move relative to each other, so do not fix the CARB axially, and check that the shaft can drift the full displacement without touching an end cover.

An SKF designation describes the bearing exactly. In 6205-2RSH/C3, "62" is a light-series deep groove ball bearing, "05" means a 25 mm bore (05 × 5), "2RSH" means rubber seals on both sides, and "C3" means internal clearance larger than normal, which motors often need because the inner ring runs warmer than the outer. Choosing the right grease matters just as much: a general grease such as LGMT 2 suits most motors, while heavy loads, high temperatures or slow speeds need an EP, high-temperature or high-viscosity grade.
