Brand:

SKF 6314 Deep Groove Ball Bearing, 70x150x35 mm

Description

A 70 mm bore open ball bearing for large electric motors and heavy rotating equipment

The SKF 6314 is a single row deep groove ball bearing of the 63 series, with a 70 mm bore, 150 mm outside diameter and 35 mm width. It is an open bearing without seals or shields, which makes it the usual choice where the bearing runs in an oil bath, in a circulating-oil system or in a housing that has its own sealing. SKF lists it in the Explorer performance class, so it is made to ISO tolerance class 6 widths and the tighter running accuracy that SKF describes for the range.

Deep groove ball bearings carry radial load and axial load in both directions, are easy to mount and need little maintenance. A bearing of this size is typically found at the drive end of large electric motors, in medium and large pumps, fans, blowers and gearboxes, where the 63 series gives a robust cross section for the shaft diameter.

Reading the designation and choosing variants

The designation is short because the bearing is the plain basic type. 6 identifies the single row deep groove design, 3 is the 63 dimension series (heavy section) and 14 multiplied by five gives the 70 mm bore. Suffixes are added when you need something different, and the SKF Explorer brochure explains the common ones: Z for shields, RZ for non-contact seals, RSL, RSH and RS1 for low-friction or contact seals, C3 for radial internal clearance greater than normal, and M for a machined brass cage.

Choose a clearance larger than normal when the inner ring runs hotter than the outer ring or when a heavy interference fit is used on the shaft. The SKF brochure also notes that when normal operating temperature exceeds 120 degrees C, a higher stabilisation class should be considered together with the cage, lubricant and seals. If the bearing is in a motor that is fed by a variable frequency drive, ask about an insulated or hybrid variant before ordering, because standard bearings are not electrically insulated.

Mounting notes and what to confirm before ordering

The shaft shoulder should have a diameter of at least 82 mm and the housing shoulder a diameter of no more than 138 mm, with fillet radii of no more than 2 mm, so the rings are supported without fouling the corner radius. Use a bearing heater rather than a flame for interference fits on this size; Seven Star LLC also lists the SKF TIH 030m small induction bearing heater, which suits small bearings, so check its weight and bore limits against this part. Related ball bearing on this site: SKF 6206-2RS1. More bearings are grouped under Electric Motors.

Before you order, confirm the required clearance class, seal or shield suffix, cage type, grease and whether the load is purely radial. Ratings and speeds in the table are the SKF values for the open bearing, and they should be combined with your own life and speed calculation.

Documents and quotation

The attached SKF Explorer deep groove ball bearings brochure describes the performance class, the seal and cage options and the grease choices, while the dimensions and ratings above come from the SKF product page for this exact part. Send the designation 6314 with any suffix, the quantity and the application, and Seven Star LLC will prepare the quotation as an independent supplier in Muscat.

About brand

SKF is the Swedish bearing manufacturer founded in Gothenburg in 1907. The company was built on the self-aligning ball bearing developed by engineer Sven Wingquist, who became its first managing director. Today SKF also makes seals, lubrication systems, condition monitoring equipment and maintenance tools.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list SKF bearings, greases, automatic lubricators, condition monitoring sensors and maintenance tools, and supply them to maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by designation.

An SKF designation describes the bearing exactly. In 6205-2RSH/C3, "62" is a light-series deep groove ball bearing, "05" means a 25 mm bore (05 × 5), "2RSH" means rubber seals on both sides, and "C3" means internal clearance larger than normal, which motors often need because the inner ring runs warmer than the outer. Choosing the right grease matters just as much: a general grease such as LGMT 2 suits most motors, while heavy loads, high temperatures or slow speeds need an EP, high-temperature or high-viscosity grade.

Where SKF products are used

In Oman and the GCC, SKF bearings, lubricants and tools are used by maintenance teams in oil and gas, power and desalination, cement, mining, steel, water and food plants, and by motor and pump repair workshops.

Ordering SKF products: what we need

Send the full bearing designation including all suffixes (seals, clearance, cage), and the quantity. For greases, send the grade and pack size. For tools and lubricators, send the model and, for heaters, the largest bearing weight and bore you need to heat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the dimensions of the SKF 6314?
The bore is 70 mm, the outside diameter 150 mm and the width 35 mm, with a minimum chamfer of 2.1 mm.
What load ratings does the 6314 have?
SKF gives a basic dynamic load rating of 111 kN, a static rating of 68 kN and a fatigue load limit of 2.75 kN.
Does the 6314 have seals?
No. This part is the open bearing. Shielded and sealed versions carry suffixes such as 2Z, 2RZ or 2RS1 and are separate designations.
