Iskra iMC750 Network Recorder with 8 MB Memory, 96 mm

Description

iMC750 is the recording version of Iskra’s class S power monitoring device: it measures like the iMC740 but also stores measurements, harmonics and alarms in an internal 8 MB recorder. It is meant for permanent monitoring, measuring and recording of electrical quantities in three-phase and single-phase distribution systems.

Recording what happens on the network, with time stamps

The built-in recorder is split into four configurable partitions with their own storage interval, and a fifth partition keeps every alarm as an identifier plus time stamp. All measured parameters can be recorded, including voltage and current harmonics up to the 63rd, so trends and events can be downloaded later through MiQen or from the SD card slot on the front (up to 2 GB).

Alarms are organised in four groups with 32 alarms in total. Each group has a thermal time constant for maximum values, a delay time and a switch-off hysteresis, and an alarm can trigger a sound signal and a digital output. Data from several iMC750 units can be compared, because the clock is synchronised over Ethernet with NTP and the RTC deviation is below one second per day.

Features stated in the data sheet

  • Class S (0.2 %) accuracy per EN 61557-12 and more than 140 measured quantities, including power line signalling voltage and unbalance.
  • Auto-ranging inputs to 1000 VTRMS and 12.5 A; frequency range 16 Hz to 400 Hz.
  • Up to three independent ports: RS232 or RS485 up to 115,200 bit/s, Ethernet and USB 2.0; Modbus, DNP3 and a PUSH mode that sends XML readings at set intervals.
  • EX104 analogue extender supplies four more configurable outputs.

Reading the ordering code

The seven code positions after iMC750 are current connection, RTC backup, auxiliary supply, I/O module 1/2, I/O module 3/4, COM1 and nominal frequency. The example in the data sheet, iMC750 S U E W S C T, describes a universal supply, Ethernet and USB, a status plus relay module, two pulse outputs, a supercap-backed clock and through-hole current inputs.

Voltage and current ranges are automatic and the connection mode is programmable, so neither appears in the code. COM2 letters (G RS232, C RS485, X output extender) apply only to I/O module 3/4, and tariff input letters only to module 1/2.

Installation and set-up notes

The manual for the iMC7x0 family allows panel mounting only, with a 92 x 92 mm cut-out, pluggable terminals and a recommended maximum 6 A fuse for the voltage inputs. A marked disconnect device for the auxiliary supply is required; the supply inrush can reach 20 A for under 1 ms.

After wiring, the connection mode, voltage and current transformer ratios are set from the front keys, over communication or from the memory card. Use a dedicated network for NTP where possible: the data sheet warns that accuracy over a public network is only tens of milliseconds.

Typical applications

General engineering note: a recording meter is useful at incomers, transformer and generator feeders, large drives and process lines where operators need after-the-fact data, for example to correlate a trip with a voltage dip or a harmonic rise. Evidence-based monitoring supports energy audits and fault investigation.

Where tariff or cost data are needed, the eight counters and tariff inputs of the family can feed billing allocation.

Panel note for Oman

Set the time source at commissioning, so recorded events line up with protection relay records.

Frequently asked questions

How much can the iMC750 record?

It has an 8 MB recorder in four configurable measurement partitions plus an alarm partition; how long data lasts depends on the interval and quantities selected.

Does iMC750 evaluate EN 50160 reports?

The data sheet lists quality reports among the stored items, but full automatic EN 50160 evaluation is the headline feature of the iMC770 and iMC784A.

Which ports and protocols are available?

RS232 or RS485, Ethernet and USB 2.0 with Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, DNP3 L1 and PUSH XML.

How is the clock kept accurate?

The RTC deviates by less than 1 s per day and can be synchronised with NTP; a supercap or battery backs the clock during outages.

Is Seven Star LLC an Iskra distributor?

No. Seven Star LLC is not an Iskra distributor; it is an independent Muscat-based supplier that quotes Iskra products on request.
