Brand: Ringfeder
Ringfeder RfN 4091 Heavy-Duty Shrink Disc, 50-500 mm
Description
The heaviest shrink disc series for extreme loads
The RfN 4091 is the heaviest, most robust shrink disc in the RINGFEDER range. A wider body with particularly strong outer rings gives it, in RINGFEDER’s words, maximum transmission values even at extreme loads. The tech paper lists inner diameters from 50 mm to 500 mm and torques from 1,800 Nm up to 1,940,000 Nm in the product paper, in both two-part and three-part forms.
Its function is the same as the lighter series: a slit inner ring, drawn onto the shaft by the thrust rings, produces a friction fit without key or spline, so there is no keyway to weaken the shaft and no backlash. The preload can be targeted to the application through the tightening torque.

Selected sizes from the tech paper
| d x D (mm) | Shaft dw (mm) | L (mm) | TA (Nm) | T (Nm) | Fax (kN) | Screws | Weight (kg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 x 95 | 40 | 44.5 | 25 | 2,100 | 115 | 7 x M8 | 1.4 |
| 75 x 145 | 60 | 53 | 59 | 5,700 | 221 | 7 x M10 | 3.8 |
| 100 x 170 | 75 | 61 | 59 | 10,000 | 293 | 10 x M10 | 5.6 |
| 110 x 185 | 80 | 67 | 59 | 12,900 | 338 | 12 x M10 | 7.6 |
| 125 x 215 | 90 | 73 | 100 | 17,500 | 388 | 10 x M12 | 11 |
Each size is tabulated for three shaft diameters; the 75 x 145 disc covers shafts of 55, 60 and 65 mm with torques from 4,600 to 7,000 Nm. The full table continues to the largest sizes.
Comparing rows shows the step in capacity: the 50 x 95 disc is tabulated at 2,100 Nm with seven M8 screws, while the 110 x 185 disc reaches 12,900 Nm with twelve M10 screws and an axial force of 338 kN. Use the shaft diameter column first, then check the torque against the application and the wall thickness of the hub that will carry the pressure.
When to choose the heavy series
The heavy series gets its capacity from a wider body and stronger outer rings. A 100 x 170 disc is tabulated at 10,000 Nm for a 75 mm shaft with ten M10 screws, and the 125 x 215 disc at 17,500 Nm with ten M12 screws. Choose it for drives with extremely static or dynamic loads, where the lighter RfN 4051 or the standard RfN 4061 would not have enough margin.
Order by series with d and D. Confirm before ordering: shaft diameter within the dw range, hub strength and wall thickness, and torque including shock factor.
A shrink disc connection suits almost any hub on a shaft or axle: gear wheels and sprockets, levers, cam discs, pulleys, brake discs, couplings, flanges and rotors, replacing keys, polygon connections and splined shafts. RINGFEDER notes that the disc itself is not in the load path and that few other shaft-hub connections combine such permanent rotational stability with excellent concentricity.
Because the tech paper tabulates every size for three shaft diameters, the same disc can serve neighbouring shafts, so state the exact shaft diameter, hub bore and required torque when requesting a quotation.

About brand
Ringfeder is a German manufacturer of shaft-hub connections and couplings for mechanical power transmission, headquartered in Groß-Umstadt and part of the Swedish VBG Group. Locking assemblies, shrink discs and locking elements are its core product groups.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Ringfeder RfN series from the official tech papers and quote them for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.
Ringfeder product series
Locking assemblies fit between shaft and hub bore: RfN 7012 for shafts from 19 to 1000 mm, the self-centring RfN 7013.0 and RfN 7003, the heavy torque RfN 7014, RfN 7015.0, the three-piece RfN 7005 and RfN 7515, RfN 7006 with collar, the miniature RfN 7061 and the compact RfN 7110. Shrink discs clamp a hollow hub onto a shaft from the outside: light RfN 4051, standard RfN 4061 and RfN 4071, mini RfN 4073, route-controlled RfN 4161 and heavy-duty RfN 4091 and RfN 4181. RfN 8006 locking elements cover shafts from 6 to 1000 mm.
All of these are keyless friction connections, so there is no keyway to weaken the shaft and no backlash. Each tech paper lists sizes, transmissible torque and axial force, screw tightening torques and tolerances.
Where Ringfeder connections are used
Gear wheels, sprockets, pulleys, couplings and brake discs on shafts; hollow-shaft gear units on conveyors, mills and crushers; and drives in mining, cement, wind energy and general machine building.
