ABB Coriolis mass flowmeter CoriolisMaster FCH430 and FCH450
Description
Overview
The ABB CoriolisMaster FCH430, part of the FCH400 series alongside the FCH450, is a compact Coriolis mass flowmeter platform purpose-built for hygienic applications, combining direct mass and density measurement with EHEDG-certified cleanability and polished wetted materials. Unlike the electromagnetic HygienicMaster range, the CoriolisMaster measures true mass flow and fluid density directly, without depending on fluid conductivity.
Seven Star LLC supplies the CoriolisMaster FCH430 and FCH450 as a trusted supplier of ABB products across Oman and the GCC, specifying the correct tier for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical customers who need direct mass and density data rather than volumetric flow alone.
Operating Principle
A Coriolis flowmeter measures mass flow directly by vibrating the flow tube and detecting the phase shift the Coriolis effect induces as fluid moves through the oscillating tube – the greater the mass flow rate, the greater the measurable phase shift – giving a true mass reading independent of fluid conductivity, density, or viscosity assumptions.
Because density is derived from the same vibrating-tube measurement, the FCH400 series reports mass flow, volume flow, and density simultaneously from one sensor, without the separate density instrument a volumetric measurement technology would require to derive the same information.
Engineering Design of the CoriolisMaster FCH400 Series
The SmartSensor design places meter intelligence directly in the sensor with an all-digital signal path, and SensorApplicationMemory allows plug-and-play electronics replacement without losing configuration data. Operation is through the glass via capacitive keys, matching ABB’s common look-and-feel across its measurement platform, and up to five modular I/Os support a multivariable meter configuration with optional plug-in cards.
VeriMass onboard verification and diagnostics support online preventive maintenance and extended maintenance intervals. The FCH450 adds DensiMass software for direct concentration measurement and FillMass software for filling application control, capabilities the FCH430 does not include, positioning the FCH450 above the FCH430 in the product line.
Key Features
- Direct mass flow, volume flow, and density measurement from one sensor
- EHEDG certified cleanability with polished wetted materials
- No up/downstream straight-run piping requirements

- VeriMass onboard verification for extended maintenance cycles
- FCH450 adds DensiMass (concentration) and FillMass (filling control) software
- Global explosion protection approvals, self-draining design
Industrial Applications
The CoriolisMaster FCH430 and FCH450 are used across food and beverage production, pharmaceutical dosing, and other hygienic processes in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, and the wider GCC wherever direct mass and density measurement in tight installation spaces is required.
Seven Star LLC, as a trusted ABB supplier, specifies the FCH430 for standard hygienic mass flow duty and the FCH450 where direct concentration measurement or filling application control is also needed, matching the tier to the customer’s actual process requirement.

Why Choose Seven Star LLC for the ABB CoriolisMaster FCH430/FCH450
Coriolis meters measure mass flow directly through the fluid’s effect on a vibrating tube, so unlike a differential-pressure or thermal instrument, the physical wetted material and process connection rating need to be confirmed against your actual fluid chemistry and pressure class before an order is placed, since a Coriolis sensor tube exposed to an incompatible fluid can corrode from the inside in a way that is not visible from outside the housing. We verify these compatibility details, along with whether the FCH430 or FCH450 variant fits your line size and required accuracy class, before confirming a quotation.
For custody transfer or batching applications where Coriolis meters are specified precisely because of their high accuracy and density measurement capability, we help customers confirm the calibration certificate and any required approvals accompany the instrument, since these applications often carry documentation requirements beyond a standard process flow measurement point. Where a facility is standardizing on Coriolis technology across multiple fluid transfer points, we are glad to review the existing meter inventory before recommending additional units.
Why Mass Measurement Matters for Custody and Process Accounting
A volumetric flowmeter reports how much fluid passed by volume, which changes with temperature and pressure, while a Coriolis meter reports true mass flow directly regardless of those variables, a genuine advantage anywhere fluid is bought, sold, or accounted for by weight rather than volume. This makes the CoriolisMaster family a common choice for custody transfer, batching, and blending applications where a volumetric measurement would introduce an accounting discrepancy every time the fluid’s temperature or density shifted from its reference condition.
Seven Star LLC, as a trusted supplier of ABB products, supports customers across Oman and the GCC in specifying and commissioning CoriolisMaster meters correctly, including confirming the wetted material compatibility with the specific process fluid and helping arrange any required third-party verification for custody-grade installations. We provide datasheets and installation guidance on request, helping engineering teams size and specify the meter correctly before it ships rather than discovering a mismatch during commissioning.

About brand
ABB, formed in 1988 and headquartered in Zurich, covers an unusually long stretch of a plant's equipment list, from the flowmeter and analyzer in the field to the drive, breaker and protection relay in the electrical room.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier serving Oman and the GCC. Our ABB listing concentrates on measurement and analytics: ABB flowmeters, liquid analysis sensors and systems, level and pressure instruments. It also includes valve actuators, low voltage circuit breakers, ABB drives, soft starters and protection relays.
ABB product families on this page
Flow measurement includes ABB electromagnetic, Coriolis, vortex and swirl meters, sold under names such as ProcessMaster, AquaMaster, CoriolisMaster and SwirlMaster. Liquid analysis covers pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen sensors with their transmitters. SensyTemp TSP sensors handle temperature. On the electrical side the listing has ACS355 machinery drives, the ACS550 general purpose drive, the ACQ580 for water and wastewater and the ACS880-01 industrial drive, with fieldbus adapters such as the FPBA-01 for PROFIBUS DP. Protection and switching products include SACE Tmax XT molded case breakers, SACE Emax 2 air circuit breakers, PSR soft starters and the REM615 and RET615 relays.
Where ABB instruments and drives are used
Water and wastewater plants use the electromagnetic flowmeters, analyzers and ACQ580 drives together. Oil and gas, power and chemical plants specify the Coriolis and vortex meters, pressure and level transmitters and the 615 series relays for motor and transformer feeders. The drives run pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors in almost every industry.
Ordering ABB parts: what we need
For drives send the full type code from the rating label, for example ACS355-03E-05A6-4, plus the serial number if it is a replacement. For instruments send the complete order code, measuring span, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol and the hazardous area approval. For breakers give frame size, rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, trip unit and fixed or withdrawable version.
