Municipal and industrial pump stations that need a 22 kW drive for a 380 to 480 V supply can use the ACQ580-01-046A-4. It delivers 45 A nominal from a frame R3 housing and combines an EMC filter, a DC choke, Safe Torque Off and Modbus RTU in the basic unit. At 22 kW it closes frame R3 and is a frequent fit for larger submersible pumps.

ABB has equipped the ACQ580 with pump-specific control: quick ramps that reduce wear on submersible pumps, pump priority and auto-change for parallel pumps, multi-pump control and cavitation control. Light and heavy duty on 45 A

Compare the motor nameplate with 42.8 A first, since pumps are usually light-duty loads. If the application demands repeated high torque, switch to 37.7 A, giving 18.5 kW and an overload of about 56.6 A for one minute (derived from 150%). The nominal 45 A figure is for continuous loads with no overload, and 67.9 A is available for 2 seconds at start.

Allow for 672 W of losses and 179 m3/h of cooling air. Upstream, ABB lists 80 A fuses (170M1566) for IEC and 60 A JJS-60 for UL installations, and warns that full-speed fan noise can reach 76 dBA.
