A high-pressure cartridge seal to API 682 for single and double sealing up to 100 bar
The EagleBurgmann SHV is a high-pressure single or double mechanical seal in a compact cartridge design with a stationary spring-loaded unit. It is a deformation-optimised seal for high pressures and high sliding velocities, insensitive to high sliding speeds and shaft deflections because of the stationary design, and it follows API 682 / ISO 21049. The shrink-fitted seal face and the rugged mating ring with bandage suit extreme applications, and an integrated pumping device for heat dissipation is optional.
Two versions are listed. The SHV-S is a single cartridge seal that can be used in compliance with API 682 (4th edition) type ES, and the SHV-D is a dual seal in face-to-face arrangement that does not open even if the barrier fluid pressure fails and is compliant with TA Luft.

Selection and installation notes
Select the SHV where seal chamber pressure, sliding speed or shaft deflection exceed what a pusher or elastomer seal tolerates, for example on multiphase, injection and high-pressure process pumps. State the API 682 category and plan, and check that the connection parts match the seal chamber, since the datasheet notes that connection parts can be adapted to the pump seal chamber and that integration of plans 11 to 41 must be dimensionally checked. Use the SHV-D where a barrier-fluid dual arrangement is specified, and review the barrier system design with the manufacturer.

EagleBurgmann is a maker of industrial seals, formed in 2004 as an alliance between Burgmann Industries, part of the German Freudenberg Group, and Japan's Eagle Industry. Burgmann was founded in Dresden in 1884 by Feodor Burgmann, who invented a machine-braided self-lubricating stuffing box packing. After 1945 the company restarted in Bavaria and has been headquartered in Wolfratshausen since 1951.
