Datakom DKM-409 Network Analyser with Scopemeter
Description
A 96×96 mm network analyser with harmonics and scopemeter
The DKM-409 is a precision instrument for displaying AC parameters in three-phase distribution panels. Datakom lists true RMS measurements, a 128×64 pixel graphic LCD with waveform display, harmonic distortion display of the 2nd to the 31st harmonic, max demand display, a user-configurable screen and a fully isolated RS-485 port with Modbus RTU. Because the supply is isolated, the standard unit works from 85-305 VAC and a second version accepts 19-150 VDC. It fits the standard 92×92 mm panel cut-out and has a reduced panel depth. The unit suits genset panels, motor control centres and building distribution boards in the Gulf where energy and power quality have to be shown locally and sent to a BMS. See our controllers and data acquisition range for related items.

Measurements, counters and outputs
Measured values include phase-to-phase voltages U12-U23-U31, phase-to-neutral voltages V1-V2-V3, currents I1-I2-I3, phase and total active, reactive and apparent power, phase and total power factor, two active and two reactive power counters, four user counters, and harmonics 2 to 31 of any voltage or current. The two configurable relay outputs and energy pulse output capability support alarm or pulse use, optically isolated digital inputs can be configured, and switched dual active-reactive power counters with independent mains and generator energy metering are listed. A voltage transformer ratio entry supports medium-voltage applications.
Selection and installation notes
Specify the supply version (AC or DC) when ordering. The installation sheet explains the steps: read the manual and choose the connection diagram, remove connectors and mounting brackets, pass the unit through the opening, fit and tighten the brackets without over-tightening, make wiring with plugs removed, and keep the supply terminal separate from the measurement terminals. Fast-type fuses (FF) rated at most 6 A should protect the supply and phase voltage inputs close to the unit, unused current transformers must be short-circuited, and current transformer cabling should be at least 1.5 mm2 and not longer than 1.5 metres unless the cross-section is increased. Use shielded twisted-pair cable for RS-485.
Three front buttons give access to configuration: holding the SET button for 3 seconds toggles auto-scroll (5 seconds per screen), and holding both MENU buttons for 3 seconds clears visual warnings or opens the configuration menu, where LCD contrast and language can be set. Do not install it near contactors, high-current busbars or switch-mode supplies.
Typical uses are measuring a genset or feeder in a switchboard and supplying the reading to a building management or SCADA system by Modbus RTU. The display can be set to scroll automatically through all screens, a user-configurable screen can show any chosen parameter set as a custom measurement panel, and the scopemeter shows voltage and current waveforms by channel (U12, U23, U31, V1, V2, V3, I1, I2, I3). A max demand display and independent mains and generator energy counters make it useful for sites that need to split the energy of mains and standby sources. Password-protected front panel programming prevents accidental changes.
Compared with a basic multimeter, the DKM-409 adds the harmonic bar-graph and digital harmonic displays, the oscilloscope-style waveform view and the energy counters, so a single 92 x 92 mm cut-out can replace several analogue meters on a door. When checking the wiring, remember the installation sheet conditions that can damage the unit: incorrect connections, an incorrect supply voltage, voltage or current outside the measuring range, connecting or removing data terminals while powered, and overload or short circuit at the relay outputs. Abnormal readings, on the other hand, usually come from a wrong phase order, mismatched or reversed current transformers, or a supply below the minimum level.
Selection and installation notes
A panel network analyser is selected from the wiring system, the current range and the quantities and communications needed. Check the CT ratio and polarity, connect the voltage inputs through suitable fuses, set the CT and VT ratios and the communication parameters, and compare the first readings with a reference meter. Fit it in a panel with the cut-out size on the data sheet.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
