Moxa NPort IA5150A 1-Port Serial Device Server
Description
What the NPort IA5150A gives a serial instrument
A DIN-rail serial device server for automation panels with serial, LAN and power surge protection and two 10/100 Ethernet ports that share one IP address, so panels can be daisy-chained without an extra switch. Moxa’s own one-line description of the NPort IA5150A reads: 1-port RS-232/422/485 industrial automation device server with serial/LAN/power surge protection, 2 10/100BaseT(X) ports with single IP, 0 to 60°C operating temperature.
Key figures from the Moxa page: the power input is 12 to 48 VDC; operating temperature is 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F); dimensions are 36 x 105 x 140 mm (1.42 x 4.13 x 5.51 in); weight is 475 g (1.05 lb).
Standards and approvals printed for this model include hazardous-location listings of ATEX Zone 2; UL/cUL Class I Division 2 Groups A/B/C/D; safety standard UL 508. Approvals can differ between variants of a series, so check the one on the exact order code.

Where it fits and what to check
It suits control cabinets that bring a single serial instrument onto the plant network and need to pass the Ethernet line on to the next device.
On the practical side, mounting is listed as din-rail mounting; wall mounting (with optional kit); the housing is metal; the stated MTBF is 262,805 hrs; the warranty period is 5 years. Treat the MTBF as a manufacturer prediction under its stated method, not a guarantee for your site.
What to confirm before ordering: the IEX version listed in the series for hazardous-area use, and the temperature grade. Our team in Muscat works from the exact code on your enquiry, as an independent supplier.

About brand
Since 1987 Moxa, based in New Taipei City, Taiwan, has built networking hardware for places where an office switch would fail: substations, wellhead panels, roadside cabinets. Seven Star LLC lists Moxa industrial Ethernet switches and fiber converters and supplies Moxa networking devices to system integrators and plant teams in Oman as an independent supplier. Each request is checked against the full Moxa model name before we quote.
Moxa switches and converters listed here
The EDS-G508E is a managed switch with eight Gigabit ports from the EDS managed line. The EDS-316-MM-SC-T is a 16-port unmanaged switch with 14 copper ports, two multi-mode SC fiber ports and the wide-temperature option (-40 to 75 C). The TCF-142-S-SC-T belongs to the TCF-142 series, which converts RS-232/422/485 serial signals to single-mode fiber. Moxa also makes serial device servers, protocol gateways, wireless devices and industrial computers, used on SCADA and telemetry networks across the GCC.
Ordering Moxa devices: what we need
The suffixes carry the specification. Send the complete model name, including fiber mode and connector (MM-SC, SS-SC, ST), the -T wide-temperature suffix and any coating or approval suffix. Add the power supply voltage, the SFP modules needed and the quantity.
