ComAp InteliNeo 6000 Microgrid Controller
Description
A microgrid controller for PV, battery storage and gen-sets
The ComAp InteliNeo 6000 (order code INEO6000BBB) is a controller for managing and optimising on-grid and off-grid hybrid microgrid systems. It balances supply and demand in real time and is intended as a single controller for renewable sources such as PV and for battery energy storage, and it also works with non-ComAp gen-sets.
The datasheet (software 2.4.0, issued 6/16/2026) lists native microgrid applications for on and off-grid systems, black-start support for grid-forming battery storage, import and export to the utility by load sharing or curtailment, an integrated Balance mode that prioritises renewables before gen-sets or mains, and CAN FD enabling cooperation with up to 64 additional gen-set, mains or tie controllers. Further items are an onboard Modbus master for up to 32 devices, a built-in PLC interpreter, data encryption, ISA 62443 level 2 to 3 security design, AirGate 2.0 and WebSupervisor monitoring. Hot-swap controller redundancy and CAN2 redundancy are extended features that need a software key.

What to confirm before ordering
Define the sources (PV, BESS, gen-sets, mains), the number of devices on Modbus and CAN, the grid code at the connection point and whether redundancy extended features are needed. See the controller range in Controllers and Data Acquisition.
Engineering checks before selecting the InteliNeo 6000
A microgrid controller sits at the centre of the plant’s control philosophy, so the selection starts with a single-line diagram and a written operating concept. Mark every source and breaker the controller must supervise, state which operating modes are required (grid-parallel, island, black start, export limiting) and describe how the system should behave on loss of mains, loss of a gen-set or a full battery. With that document, count the measurement points against the AC voltage and current inputs listed above, the signals against the binary and analog I/O, and the PV inverters, battery management systems and meters against the Modbus device limit.
Confirm the grid code that applies at the point of connection. The certifications listed in the table relate to European grid codes, so for a project in Oman the local distribution company’s connection requirements must be checked separately and the protection settings agreed with them.
Panel installation and wiring
The IP20 controller is designed for mounting inside a control panel. Provide a clean DC supply within the stated range with the specified fusing, keep CAN and Ethernet communication cables away from power cabling, and terminate CAN lines correctly at both ends. Voltage measurement circuits should be protected with fuses or miniature circuit breakers, and current transformer circuits must never be left open while energised, so fit shorting terminals for safe maintenance.
Commissioning a hybrid microgrid
Commissioning is best done in stages. Check every input and output point by point, verify measurement phasing and CT polarity against the meters, then bring up communication with each inverter, battery system and gen-set controller before enabling automatic control. Test each operating mode in turn: island start, synchronising, load sharing between sources, export limits and the transfer back to mains. Record setpoints and keep a copy of the final configuration file with the site documents, together with any software keys in use.
Desert and coastal conditions in Oman
Hybrid PV and battery systems in the region often serve remote sites, farms, camps and telecom locations where heat and dust are the main challenges. The controller’s operating temperature range is wide, but the panel housing it should still be shaded and ventilated or cooled so that other components such as power supplies and relays stay within their own limits. Use dust-tight enclosures with filtered air inlets in sandy areas, and choose sealed, corrosion-resistant enclosures for coastal installations where salt mist and humidity are present.
Ongoing maintenance
Use remote monitoring to follow alarms, fuel use and battery state, and review the event history after every trip or blackout. Schedule periodic site visits to clean panel filters, check terminal tightness and communication connectors, test the black-start and island sequences under controlled conditions, and update firmware only after checking release notes with the system integrator. Keep the single-line diagram, the operating concept and the I/O list up to date whenever sources or loads are added, because the controller configuration has to follow every change to the plant. When the microgrid is extended with more PV, storage or gen-sets, repeat the relevant mode tests before returning the system to automatic operation.

Ordering ComAp controllers: what we need
Send the full order code, including any suffix for a low-temperature or special version, together with the engine make and ECU, the AVR and governor type, the number of sets in parallel and the communication modules required. For replacements, a copy of the existing configuration archive helps us confirm a direct swap.
