APC is Schneider Electric's brand for uninterruptible power supplies, power distribution units, cooling and racks for IT and control systems. American Power Conversion was founded in 1981 by three engineers from MIT's Lincoln Laboratory and grew into one of the largest UPS makers in the world. Schneider Electric completed its acquisition of APC on 14 February 2007, combined it with MGE UPS Systems, and since 2011 APC has been a product brand of Schneider Electric.
Seven Star LLC lists APC uninterruptible power supplies from desktop Back-UPS units to modular Symmetra systems, together with battery packs and network cards, and sources them for sites in Oman.

Where APC UPS systems are used

In industrial plants across the GCC, APC UPS units back up DCS and PLC cabinets, operator stations, SCADA servers, telecom racks, fire and gas panels and analyzer shelters. Online double-conversion models are normally chosen for control systems because the load is always fed through the inverter. Line-interactive units suit office IT and less critical loads.

Ordering APC UPS units and parts: what we need

Send the full SKU, for example SRT3000XLI, and not only the VA rating. The letters carry meaning: an I in the suffix marks a 230 V international model, XL an extended-run version that accepts external battery packs, and RM a rack-mount form. For a new requirement, give load in watts, input and output voltage, required runtime, tower or rack format, and the plug or hardwire arrangement. For batteries, send the UPS SKU and serial number so the correct replacement battery cartridge can be found in APC documentation.

Replacement batteries, battery packs and spares
Most APC service work is battery work. APC Replacement Battery Cartridges, sold under RBC and APCRBC numbers, are sets of sealed valve-regulated lead-acid blocks that arrive pre-wired with the connectors for the UPS models they are listed for, so a weak battery can be changed as one unit and, on hot-swap models, without switching the load off. Some newer cartridges carry an -LI suffix for lithium-ion versions. External battery packs extend runtime on XL and SRT models, and are chained to the UPS through the battery connector on the rear panel. To find the right cartridge, send the UPS SKU and serial number; the same UPS can use different cartridges across hardware revisions.

APC UPS in Oman and GCC conditions
Oman supplies 240 V single-phase and 415 V three-phase at 50 Hz, so international models with an I suffix (230 V nominal, adjustable to 240 V on most Smart-UPS units) are the usual choice. Heat is the main enemy: most APC UPS units are rated for operation up to 40 °C, while summer shade temperatures in Muscat and the interior pass 45 °C, and a lead-acid battery loses roughly half its service life for every 10 °C above 25 °C. Install UPS and batteries in a cooled room, keep filters clean in dusty inland sites, and size the standby generator with margin for UPS input and battery charging current.
