The CH2000 at the centre of Delta’s crane solution

The Delta CH2000 is the heavy duty vector control drive in the Delta Crane Solution, which also uses the compact ME300 for trolley motion and the REG2000 power regenerative unit on the main hook. The brochure (May 2022) says the solution is built for high starting torque and overload capacity, to satisfy heavy duty and high impact load applications such as overhead, gantry and tower cranes.

The CH2000 has a Super Heavy Duty (SHD) rating with 150 percent overload for 60 seconds and 200 percent for 3 seconds, over 200 percent starting torque at 0.5 Hz and 200 percent at 0 Hz in FOC+PG mode, support for induction and permanent magnet motors, a built-in PLC with 10k steps and a built-in braking unit up to 75 kW.

Crane functions built into the drive

Real-time anti-sway control does not need sensors; Delta cites a 30 percent shorter cease time and a maximum amplitude below 2 per mille of the sling length. Anti-crab control corrects skew in real time using Device-to-Device Link between two drives, with deviation below 3 per mille of the girder length per GB/T 3811-2008, and Delta notes correction is needed for gantry cranes with spans above 40 m. Hoist synchronization lets two drives lift one load in master-slave control without PLC programming.

Safety functions include brake and torque output sequencing so the drive outputs torque before the brake is released, multi-point brake status checks, zero-speed control with encoder feedback, overspeed, overload and collision prevention. Parameter groups for main hook, rotation and luffing are organised by application scenario.

Selection notes

How the Delta CH2000 works

The drive controls the motor by vector control, so it can give a high torque even at very low speed. With an encoder card it holds torque at zero speed, which keeps a hoist load steady when the brake opens. A built-in PLC runs the crane logic inside the drive.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the CH2000

Mount the drive in a clean cabinet with room for cooling air. Wire the supply, the motor and the earth. Connect the braking resistor and the encoder. Set the motor data and run the auto-tuning. Test the brake sequence with no load before lifting.

Delta PLC families and the DVP slim line

Delta's controller program runs from the DVP series through the modular AS series to the AH series. Inside the DVP series, the slim CPUs (among them DVP-SS2, SA2, SX2, SV2 and SE) take slim expansion modules on their right side.
