How does a Galvanic tape analyzer measure H2S and total sulfur?
The sample passes over a paper tape impregnated with lead acetate. H2S darkens the tape, and the rate of color change is proportional to concentration. For total sulfur, the sample is first mixed with hydrogen and passed through a hot reaction furnace that converts sulfur compounds to H2S. The tape is a consumable, so order it with the model in mind.
When is the AccuLase-GPA used instead of a tape analyzer?
The AccuLase-GPA is a tunable diode laser analyzer that measures H2S, CO2 and H2O in natural gas in a single cell and, according to the manufacturer, needs no tape or scrubber consumables. It suits sites that want low upkeep and several components from one analyzer. Tape analyzers remain common where a specification calls for that method or total sulfur is required.
What does the 943-TGX measure in a sulfur recovery unit?
It is a tail gas analyzer for Claus sulfur recovery units. It is a UV spectrophotometer that measures H2S and SO2, along with COS and CS2, in the tail gas so that the combustion air to the reaction furnace can be trimmed toward the correct ratio. What information is needed for Galvanic spare parts?
Send the analyzer model, the serial number and the part number or description from the manual. For a ProTech903, say whether it is configured for H2S only or for total sulfur, and give the range.
