ABB ACH580-01-106A-4 HVAC AC Drive 55 kW 106 A
Description
ACH580-01-106A-4: 106 A of fan and pump control for buildings
ACH580-01-106A-4 is a wall-mounted ABB ACH580 drive made for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. ABB’s catalogue rates it at 55 kW and 106 A in no-overload use on a 380 to 415 V network, and builds it on frame R5. Typical jobs are supply and extract fans, chilled-water and heating pumps, cooling-tower fans and similar variable-torque loads in commercial and industrial buildings. The 55 kW rating tops frame R5 and fits cooling tower fans and large circulation pumps.
Functions that building automation asks for come with the drive, for example override (fire) mode, four start interlocks, belt-loss (under-load) detection and real-time clock scheduling. Other sizes are listed in AC drives, and the related general-purpose family is on the ABB ACS580 drive page.

Choosing between 400 V and 480 V data
Voltage changes the answer. A 380 to 415 V network gives 55 kW and 106 A nominal, 100 A light duty. A 440 to 480 V network gives 96 A light duty for 75 hp. Because HVAC loads are variable torque, light duty usually applies, with about 110 A (110%, derived) available for a minute. Ratings are for +40 degrees C.
Mounting data for frame R5: the standard IP21 unit is 203 mm wide and 295 mm deep, 732 mm high with the gland box or 596 mm without, and weighs 28.3 kg. Order the IP55 variant and the body grows to 732 x 203 x 320 mm and 29 kg. With a main switch or C1 filter variant the IP55 body becomes 1023 x 203 x 342 mm and 33 kg.
The catalogue’s SynRM selection guide matches this drive with 45 kW M3BL225SMA4 at 3000 rpm (103 A nominal, motor efficiency 95.0%, package efficiency 92.2%); 45 kW M3BL250SMG4 at 1500 rpm (99.5 A nominal, motor efficiency 95.4%, package efficiency 92.8%). Read the package efficiency as a calculated value for the drive and motor together, useful when comparing options but not a substitute for the motor’s own datasheet.
How the code is built
The designation breaks down as series ACH580, construction 01 (wall-mounted), size 106A and voltage code 4 for 380 to 480 V. ABB lists these additions, among others: +C135 for flange mounting, +L501 for the CMOD-01 relay and 24 V module, +L523 for CMOD-02 with an isolated PTC interface and +L512 for CHDI-01 with 115/230 V inputs.
Network options are ordered with +K codes. Examples from the table are EtherCAT via FECA-01 (+K469), POWERLINK via FEPL-02 (+K470) and BACnet/IP via FBIP-21 (+K465); the standard protocols stay available regardless.
Across the range ABB specifies coated circuit boards, a DC choke built to IEC 61000-3-12, Safe Torque Off certified to SIL 3 / PL e, an EMC category C2 design for frames R1 to R9 and six digital inputs and two analog inputs.

About brand
ABB, formed in 1988 and headquartered in Zurich, covers an unusually long stretch of a plant's equipment list, from the flowmeter and analyzer in the field to the drive, breaker and protection relay in the electrical room.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier serving Oman and the GCC. Our ABB listing concentrates on measurement and analytics: ABB flowmeters, liquid analysis sensors and systems, level and pressure instruments. It also includes valve actuators, low voltage circuit breakers, ABB drives, soft starters and protection relays.
ABB product families on this page
Flow measurement includes ABB electromagnetic, Coriolis, vortex and swirl meters, sold under names such as ProcessMaster, AquaMaster, CoriolisMaster and SwirlMaster. Liquid analysis covers pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen sensors with their transmitters. SensyTemp TSP sensors handle temperature. On the electrical side the listing has ACS355 machinery drives, the ACS550 general purpose drive, the ACQ580 for water and wastewater and the ACS880-01 industrial drive, with fieldbus adapters such as the FPBA-01 for PROFIBUS DP. Protection and switching products include SACE Tmax XT molded case breakers, SACE Emax 2 air circuit breakers, PSR soft starters and the REM615 and RET615 relays.
Where ABB instruments and drives are used
Water and wastewater plants use the electromagnetic flowmeters, analyzers and ACQ580 drives together. Oil and gas, power and chemical plants specify the Coriolis and vortex meters, pressure and level transmitters and the 615 series relays for motor and transformer feeders. The drives run pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors in almost every industry.
Ordering ABB parts: what we need
For drives send the full type code from the rating label, for example ACS355-03E-05A6-4, plus the serial number if it is a replacement. For instruments send the complete order code, measuring span, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol and the hazardous area approval. For breakers give frame size, rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, trip unit and fixed or withdrawable version.
