C-TEC XFP501E/CA CAST 1 Loop 16 Zone Addressable Fire Panel

Description

The C-TEC XFP501E/CA is a single-loop, 16-zone analogue addressable fire alarm control panel for C-TEC’s CAST protocol. One loop supports up to 255 CAST devices, each with a built-in short-circuit isolator, and the panel is certified by the LPCB to EN54 parts 2 and 4. It is a sensible size for a single building, a plant control room, a camp block or a workshop where one loop and sixteen zone LEDs cover the detection layout.

Functions described in the engineering manual

The manual lists zone dependency of types A, B and C under EN54-2 clause 7.12, output delays and a phased evacuation facility, an alarm counter of up to 999 counts, individual disablement of addressable points, day and night operation, an investigation delay and individual sensitivity settings for each device. Fault reporting from heat detectors, optical detectors and multisensors is listed under clause 8.3. Devices can be addressed by the panel or with the CAST handheld programmer, duplicate addresses and swapped devices are detected, and each device can carry 40 characters of custom text. Some engineering functions go beyond EN54-2 and are marked in the manual with a caution symbol.

Selection and installation notes

The part number matters: the /CA suffix means the CAST protocol, so detectors, call points and sounders on the loop must be CAST devices. The site also lists the C-TEC XFP501/CA; the two are different part numbers, so confirm which one the specification, spare-parts list or existing system calls for before ordering. Batteries are small, 0.8 to 3.2 Ah, so check standby calculations against the project duty. Networking and repeaters are optional and, as the manual notes, the CAST XFP network and repeaters have not been assessed to EN54-2. The panel is configured with the XFP507 PC tools, which are ordered separately, and the enclosure is for indoor use only at IP30.

Before ordering confirm the part number and protocol suffix, the number of zones and loops, battery size, whether repeaters or a network are needed and which approvals the project requires; browse related fire and gas logic controllers. About brand

C-TEC has made life safety electronics in Wigan, United Kingdom since 1981: fire alarm panels, detectors, power supplies, disabled refuge and call systems. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists C-TEC panels and detectors such as the XFP501/CA single loop addressable fire panel, the CP416 CAST-PRO addressable optical smoke detector and the CFP708-4 eight zone conventional fire alarm panel.

C-TEC fire alarm families

The manufacturer divides fire systems into conventional and addressable. On the conventional side are the CFP panels in 2 to 8 zones, with ActiV detectors, sounders and call points. On the addressable side, XFP panels cover one or two loops and ZFP panels up to eight, working with C-TEC's own CAST protocol and CAST-PRO devices. Addressable panels are also made for Apollo XP95 and Discovery and for Hochiki ESP devices, so the protocol of a panel must match the detectors on its loop. EN54-4 power supplies, SigTEL refuge systems and EVAC-ALERT panels complete the range.

Ordering C-TEC equipment: what we need

Send the full part number including the suffix after the slash, which separates protocol versions of the same panel. Tell us the detector protocol already on site, the number of loops or zones, and any network or repeater requirement. For projects in the GCC, name the approval the consultant specifies so we request the matching certificates from the manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the /CA suffix mean?
It identifies the version for C-TEC's CAST protocol. Detectors and call points on the loop must be CAST devices.
How many devices can the loop carry?
Up to 255 CAST devices on the single loop, each with a short-circuit isolator.
Which EN54 parts is the panel certified to?
The manual states certification by the LPCB to EN54 parts 2 and 4.
Can several panels be networked?
Yes, optionally with an XFP761 card in each panel: up to 8 main panels on a 2-wire RS485 network, which the manual says has not been assessed to EN54-2.
How is the panel configured?
With the Windows XFP507 PC programming tools, which the manual states must be used to configure the system.
