Brand:

Cortem EJBC Aluminium Ex d Junction Boxes for Gas Group IIC

Description

Aluminium Ex d junction boxes for gas group IIC, including hydrogen and acetylene

The Cortem EJBC series are flameproof aluminium junction boxes designed for areas with explosion or fire risk from gases of group IIA, IIB and IIC, classified Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. A patented multi-step joint between body and cover, produced by precise machining, extends protection to group IIC gases: acetylene, carbon disulphide and hydrogen. This is the aluminium option when a standard IIB+H2 box is not enough for the gas in the plant.

Typical uses listed by Cortem are boxes carrying terminals and busbars, fuse carriers, transformers, reactors and barriers, as well as control and signalling boards, light and power boards, surge arresters and motor starter boxes in various configurations. A 316L stainless steel version is available through the sales office.

Options and what to confirm before ordering

Accessories on request include an anti-condensation orange interior coating, external RAL colours, breather or drain valve ECD-210S, round or rectangular lid windows, aluminium or galvanised mounting plates, and NPT, ISO 7-1 or metric entry threads. Lid drilling is limited to 28 holes on the EJBC-45 and 40 on the EJBC-5, and holes are made by Cortem or an ATEX-notified partner. The label on terminal boxes carries manufacture year, serial number, code, protection, ambient temperature, electrical data, temperature class and maximum surface temperature.

For quotation provide the gas group, zone, temperature class, ambient range, terminal or component list, power dissipated and cable entry sizes. The IIB+H2 sibling is the EJB series, and the stainless steel flameproof option is Cortem EJBX.

About brand

Cortem is an Italian manufacturer of electrical equipment for environments with a risk of explosion and fire. Cortem S.p.A., the main company of Cortem Group, was founded in 1968 in Villesse, Italy, and the group today supplies industrial plants, offshore platforms, refineries and shipyards with certified products for hazardous areas.

Explosion-protected product range

The catalogue covers junction boxes in aluminium, stainless steel and GRP, control and command stations, metal cable glands and connectors, plugs and sockets, LED floodlights, linear and high-bay luminaires, hand lamps, signalling and obstruction lights, and weatherproof series equipment. Products are certified to ATEX and IECEx, with UKEX and other schemes available according to the model.

Applications and documentation

Typical sectors named by the company include oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, mining, shipbuilding and traditional and green energy. Each product family has a datasheet with the marking, zones, temperature classes and certificate numbers, so the equipment can be matched to a hazardous area classification before ordering.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Cortem products to customers in Oman and the GCC and quotes against the model code, zone and certificate requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes EJBC different from EJB?
