LED floodlights for Zone 2, 21 and 22 that replace discharge lamps above 400 W

The Cortem EVNL-…-40 series are LED floodlights for plants in Zone 2 (gas) and Zones 21 and 22 (dust). Cortem uses the Ex nR method, which classifies the luminaire as a restricted-breathing device: careful design and sealing limit the entry of flammable gases, vapours or mists during normal operation. The datasheet presents the range as a replacement for traditional discharge lamps exceeding 400 W, with immediate high-intensity switching and savings in energy, maintenance and installation cost.

The aluminium alloy body has cooling fins shaped to minimise combustible dust deposits and to let air or water clean the fixture. An in/out entry with an opposing plug allows several floodlights to be looped on one supply line. The front is shock-resistant tempered glass, protection is IP66 and IK10, and Cortem states a five-year warranty.

Accessories and what to confirm before ordering

Options include dimming (0-10 V, PWM or resistor), higher CRI, a different colour temperature, a U-bolt for 1 1/2 inch poles, an eyebolt, a cover with direct pole connection, an extra NAV20SIB gland, and stanchion mounting at a fixed 25 degree angle (codes ending -IX). Spare parts include the electronic power unit, glass and gasket sets and the stainless bracket.

Confirm the zone and whether gas, dust or both apply, the temperature class needed at the site ambient (several models drop to N/A above +40 °C), the supply voltage, the mounting method and the cable entry, because Cortem lists some codes only at the lower ambient limit.
