Wolf Safety LFX1 Floodlite Hazardous Area LED Floodlight

Description

Installed LED floodlight for wide, even lighting in Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas

The Wolf Safety LFX1 Floodlite is a fixed LED floodlight for illuminating medium to large hazardous work areas with wide and even light. Wolf certifies the LFX range to ATEX, IECEx and UKEX for gas Zones 1 and 2 and dust Zones 21 and 22, under the marking II 2 G Ex eb mb IIC T4 Gb and II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T110 °C Db.

The LFX1 is the small housing of the LFX family and comes with 12 or 16 LEDs. Four beam angles let the designer match the optic to the mounting height, and the floodlight is supplied with an adjustable bracket so it can be aimed after installation. The cast aluminium body, toughened glass cover and IP66/67 rating suit both indoor and outdoor use.

LFX family models and ratings

The datasheet covers eight references. The small LFX1 housing carries 12 or 16 LEDs and the large LFX2 housing carries 24 or 32 LEDs. The last two digits of the reference match the upper ambient temperature limit in degrees C, so a 55 suffix means 55 degrees C.

Reference Input power Max lumens (230 V) LEDs Upper ambient limit
LFX1S-12-55 67.5 W 9,724 lm 12 LED 55 °C
LFX1S-12-65 45 W 6,483 lm 12 LED 65 °C
LFX1S-16-45 90 W 12,996 lm 16 LED 45 °C
LFX1S-16-55 60 W 8,644 lm 16 LED 55 °C
LFX2S-24-50 135 W 19,449 lm 24 LED 50 °C
LFX2S-24-60 90 W 12,996 lm 24 LED 60 °C
LFX2S-32-50 180 W 25,932 lm 32 LED 50 °C
LFX2S-32-55 120 W 17,288 lm 32 LED 55 °C

The LFX2 housing weighs 15.5 kg. Wolf notes that LFX1S-12 units are not supplied with through wiring unless specified, and that the large LFX2S-32 types must not be mounted with the cable entry at the top. Lumen figures are for 230 VAC.

Choosing the beam and mounting the light

A narrow 36 degree beam throws light further from a high mounting point, while the 102 degree ultra wide beam gives broad coverage at lower heights. Wolf offers IES files on request, which lets a lighting designer model the layout before ordering. Check that the upper ambient limit of the chosen reference covers the highest local temperature, including solar gain on outdoor structures.

Fit a cable gland or stopping plug that carries the same Ex certification and ingress rating as the luminaire, since the IP66/67 rating depends on the gland fitted. Follow the Wolf instruction manual for the installation, earthing and maintenance of the luminaire.

About brand

Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history in mining safety lamps going back more than a century. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.

Hazardous-area lighting ranges

The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.

Certification and application

Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
