Task Force Tips BlitzForce XXL111A Portable Fire Monitor

Description

The Task Force Tips BlitzForce XXL111A is a manually operated portable ground monitor that lets a crew put a master-stream flow of up to 500 gpm (2000 L/min) on a fire from a position well away from the nozzle. It is supplied as a monitor only, with a 2.5 in (65 mm) National Hose (NH) female swivel rocker inlet and a 2.5 in NH male rigid outlet. Task Force Tips describes it as the most compact and maneuverable of its ground monitors, and the numbers support that: the aluminum body weighs 15 lb (6.9 kg) without a nozzle and folds to 14.8 x 9.0 x 9.4 in (375 x 230 x 240 mm) with the legs closed.

A T-shaped carrying handle, three tungsten carbide-tipped spikes and a factory tie-down strap with storage bag and safety hook cover carrying, traction and restraint. XXL111A is the plain version; the manual also covers the BlitzForce OSC oscillating variant.

Key features taken from the manual

Task Force Tips lists a safety locking pin that holds the valve closed, adjustable attack angles, carbide-tipped legs, a built-in carrying handle and a compact body as the main features. The manual adds detail: the valve handle locks in the closed position so a charged line can be carried without the monitor opening, and you release it by pulling the knob on the right side of the handle. A spring-loaded plunger returns the outlet to 30 degrees if the operator lets go. The tie-down strap is the anchoring method the manual ranks lowest risk; weight is high risk, spike holds and hooked legs medium.

Selection and ordering guide

XXL111A is the monitor-only, manual, 2.5 in NH configuration. BlitzFire monitors add a six-detent slide valve, safety shut-off and optional oscillation; choose BlitzForce when low weight and simple ball-valve operation matter most. No nozzle is included; the manual gives flow tables for stacked and smooth-bore tips. Inlet and outlet are NH, a US hose thread, so BS or Storz hose needs adapters that are not part of this number. Nozzle reaction can reach 330 lb (150 kg) at 500 gpm.

Installation and operation notes

Set the monitor on a firm, even surface so all three spikes touch the ground, unfold both legs and take every bit of slack out of the tie-down strap before water is turned on. Open and close the valve slowly to avoid water hammer, and do not move the monitor while it is flowing. The manual warns that tile, smooth concrete and steel decking give poor spike grip, and sand, gravel and mud are generally poor. Replace any spike whose tip exceeds 1/16 in (1.6 mm).

The optional XXL-B bracket stores the monitor pre-connected; never flow from it. Salt water is permitted if the unit is rinsed with fresh water afterwards, but service life may be shorter and corrosion is not warranted, which matters on the Gulf coast.

Applications in GCC industry

Portable ground monitors of this type are used by plant fire brigades and civil defence crews at refineries, tank farms, gas plants and ports, where a quick unmanned master stream is needed to cool exposures or contain a spill fire. At 6.9 kg one responder can carry it. The manual limits fluid temperature to 120 F (50 C), so flush hose that has sat in direct sun.

Compatible items

The manual and product page point to the XXL-B storage bracket (LIX-735), TFT nozzles with 2.5 in NH inlets, foam eductors and aspirating foam tips, and the BlitzForce OSC oscillating unit, which sweeps 20, 30 or 40 degrees and needs at least 175 gpm to run.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum flow of the BlitzForce XXL111A?
Up to 500 gpm (2000 L/min) at 175 psi (12 bar) at the monitor inlet, according to the instruction manual.

Does it include a nozzle?
No. The part is supplied as the monitor only, with a 2.5 in NH male outlet; the nozzle and the storage bracket XXL-B are separate.

Can it be left unattended?
Yes, the vertical range for unmanned use is 30 to 60 degrees, and the factory tie-down strap is the restraint the manual rates lowest risk. The manual still requires proper anchoring and training.

Is salt water permitted?
Salt water is permitted if the equipment is rinsed with fresh water after each use, but service life may be shorter and corrosion is not covered by warranty.
