Brand:

Streamlight Dualie 3AA ATEX Dual-Beam Zone 0 Flashlight

Description

Spot and flood beams in one Zone 0 flashlight

The Streamlight Dualie 3AA ATEX puts two LEDs in one head: a forward spot beam with a smooth parabolic reflector, and a downward flood beam for the ground in front of the user. They can be switched independently or together using two opposing push buttons, one on each side of the head, so the function is identifiable by feel with gloves on.

The spot beam delivers 140 lumens and 7,300 candela to 171 m, the flood 140 lumens, and with both on the output is 245 lumens. The polymer body is anti-static and non-conductive, finished in international safety orange, and carries an integrated spring-loaded clip that sits inside the body outline so it does not snag.

Cell choice sets the temperature class

Streamlight ties the T-class to the battery: T4 with Energizer L91, Duracell MN1500 and Rayovac NO.815, and T3 with Energizer E91, Panasonic LR6XP and LR6XWA. Lithium cells also reduce weight (167 g against 193 g), and naming the permitted cell on the work order matters as much as choosing the light itself.

The ATEX and IEC models use an antistatic body and an integrated, retained face-cap lock. The manual tells the user to align the head lock ribs and tighten the head lock screw without over-tightening, which is specific to the ATEX models. The Dualie is classed as a hazardous-location flashlight with few or no user-serviceable parts, so repairs go back to Streamlight’s service department or a service centre it names.

Using the two beams

The flood beam is short, 8 m, by design: it lights the floor, steps and the work directly ahead while the spot reads distant targets. That helps when climbing ladders or walking grated platforms. Compared with a single-beam torch, it reduces the need to swing the light between close work and distance.

Optional items on the information sheet include the Poly Mount Kit 68089, the 4AA Fire Helmet Mount 68085, the Multi-Adapter 68093 and a rubber helmet band 99075. For a colour-critical flood beam see the Color-Rite version, and for a red laser pointer see the Laser version.

Key features at a glance

  • Two independent LEDs in one head: a long-reach spot beam for inspection at a distance and a short flood beam aimed at the ground directly in front of the user.
  • Opposing push buttons on either side of the head, so each beam can be found by touch while wearing work gloves.
  • Zone 0 gas group IIC marking (Ex ia op is IIC T3/T4 Ga), which covers the most demanding gas group under the ATEX and IECEx schemes.
  • Anti-static, non-conductive polymer body in safety orange that is easy to spot if dropped in a pit or on a congested deck.
  • Low-profile, spring-loaded clip that follows the body outline, letting the light ride on a vest, chest strap or helmet band without catching on scaffolding.
  • IP67 sealing and a 2 m drop test, appropriate for wet process areas and wash-down zones.

Choosing the Dualie 3AA ATEX for a site

A dual-beam light suits work where the operator alternates between reading something distant, such as a gauge, a flange tag or a tank level indicator, and watching footing on gratings, ladders and stairs. Carrying one tool for both jobs avoids a second certified torch and keeps one hand free. Where only long throw is required, a single-beam certified light may be simpler; where both tasks occur during the same round, the Dualie removes the need to swap.

Check the hazardous-area classification of the plant before ordering. The marking on this model covers Zone 0 gas atmospheres; the safety officer should confirm that the equipment category, gas group and temperature class on the light meet or exceed what the area classification drawing calls for. Because the T-class depends on the battery fitted, the approved cell list should become part of the site permit-to-work documentation.

Batteries and logistics

The light runs on three AA primary cells, a format that is widely stocked, which simplifies spares compared with proprietary rechargeable packs. Keep only the cell brands and models listed by Streamlight for the required temperature class in the issue store, and label the storage bin clearly so that a generic cell is not substituted. Lithium primaries give the T4 rating with the cells named by the manufacturer and are lighter, which some users prefer for helmet or chest carry over long shifts.

Use in Oman and GCC operating conditions

Oil and gas facilities, refineries, gas processing plants, LNG trains and chemical storage terminals across the region commonly contain classified zones where a non-certified torch is not permitted. Typical tasks include tank and vessel entry, night rounds on pipe racks, inspection inside compressor shelters and work around loading arms. In high summer temperatures, store spare cells out of direct sun and avoid leaving lights on vehicle dashboards, since heat shortens battery life. Fine dust and sand are common on desert sites; the IP67 rating addresses dust ingress, but wiping the lens and switch areas after each shift keeps the beams clean and the buttons free.

Care and inspection routine

  • Before each use, check the lens, head and body for cracks; a damaged certified light should be withdrawn rather than repaired on site.
  • Change cells only outside the hazardous area, and replace all three at the same time with the same approved type.
  • When refitting the head on ATEX models, align the lock ribs and tighten the head lock screw as the manual instructs, without over-tightening.
  • Do not open, modify or fit non-original parts; return faulty units for service through the manufacturer route.
  • Record the light in the site Ex equipment register if your management system tracks portable equipment.

What to include in an RFQ

  • Item number required: 68755 for the ATEX version or 68758 for the InMetro version.
  • Quantity, and whether spare approved AA cells should be quoted alongside.
  • Whether the optional magnetic clip is needed.
  • The zone, gas group and temperature class of the area where the light will be used.
  • Delivery location in Oman or elsewhere in the GCC, and any certificate copies needed for site approval.

Documents and quotation

The downloadable files are the Streamlight fact sheet and the information sheet with item numbers, and the operating instructions. Confirm the item number (ATEX or InMetro), the cell type for T3 or T4, and whether the magnetic clip option is needed before ordering. About brand

Streamlight is a manufacturer of professional flashlights, headlamps, lanterns and scene lights based in Eagleville, Pennsylvania, USA. The company traces its current form to 1973 and describes more than 50 years of designing, manufacturing and marketing durable lighting for firefighting, industrial, law enforcement, military, automotive and outdoor users.

Hazardous-area and industrial lighting

The international safety-rated range includes ATEX and IECEx certified flashlights, headlamps and lanterns, among them the ProPolymer HAZ-LO flashlights, the Dualie dual-beam lights, the Survivor right-angle lights and the Vulcan lanterns. Marking, zone, gas group and temperature class differ by model and by the battery fitted, so the certificate and product label should be checked against the classification of the area. Rechargeable work lights, lanterns and tripod scene lights for unclassified areas complete the range.

Requesting a quote for Streamlight lights

Send the five-digit item number with the supply voltage or plug type, the quantity and, for hazardous-area lights, the zone and gas group. Item numbers vary by voltage, colour and package, so the exact number avoids ordering the wrong version.
