Brand: DEIF
DEIF AGC-4 Mk II Genset, Mains, BTB, Group and Plant Controller
Description
Configurable controller from single genset to plant management
The DEIF AGC-4 Mk II is a configurable controller for a wide range of applications. It contains the three-phase measuring circuits and all functions needed to protect and control a genset, and the same family also protects and controls mains connections, tie breakers and bus tie breakers. A single controller can run one genset, controllers can share load with CANshare or PMS lite, and in a full power management system up to 40 AGC-4 Mk II controllers can be connected.
DEIF lists the AGC-4 Mk II in combination with AGC-4, iE 150, AGC 150 (up to 32), ASC 150 solar and storage controllers and ALC-4 load controllers. With extended power management a system can handle up to 992 gensets. Plant modes include automatic mains failure, fixed power, peak shaving, load takeover and mains power export, and all modes can be combined with AMF.

Displays, options and engine communication
The controller is operated from a TDU touch display or the DU-2 LCD display, with the AOP-1 and AOP-2 additional operator panels available as options. Accessories include DU-2 display cables of 1, 3 and 6 m (J6, J1, J2), a USB PC cable (J7) and the RMB connector kit (J8). The ordering example in the data sheet shows the variant number and option letters, so the variant and options must be stated in an enquiry.
Hardware options include dual CAN (H12.8) for engine communication, DVC 550, 350 and 310 digital voltage controllers, external I/O and CANshare, an MTU ADEC option (H13), and 4 to 20 mA, relay and multi-input extension cards. The data sheet lists third-party digital load sharing with ComAp, DeepSea MSC7 and SmartGen controllers using option H12.
Selecting the AGC-4 Mk II
Choose the variant for the role of each controller, then the display, the engine interface, the power management scale and the extension options. Confirm whether a separate TDU is needed, because it is a separate product with its own data sheet. The newer AGC 150 covers many of the same roles in a compact housing, so compare it with this model when the project needs the AGC-4 Mk II platform for compatibility with an existing plant.
How the DEIF AGC-4 Mk II works
The controller measures the voltage, current and frequency of the genset and of the mains. It starts and stops the engine, closes and opens the breakers and shares the load with other sets. Its protections trip the set on faults. Each controller has its own task, genset, mains, tie breaker, group or plant, and the controllers talk over a network.
Where the AGC-4 Mk II is used
- Single gensets
- Stand-by sets with mains failure start
- Load sharing plants
- Peak shaving
- Plants with tie breakers and bus ties

About brand
DEIF is a Danish, family-owned and independent manufacturer of control and protection devices for power generation, founded in a Copenhagen backyard in 1933 and now based in Skive. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes DEIF AGC, SGC and CGC genset controllers for standby plants, paralleling systems and engine-driven sets.
DEIF genset and power management controllers
DEIF describes itself as a supplier of power control solutions for decentralised power generation on land and at sea. Its genset controllers range from the compact SGC and CGC units to the AGC 150 and AGC-4 Mk II controllers, which add synchronisation and power management for plants with many gensets. DEIF data sheets state the supply range, I/O, protections and approvals of each controller.
Ordering DEIF controllers
Name the exact model and variant, the software package or option letters where they apply, the quantity and the engine make and ECU protocol. DEIF configures several controllers by variant and option, so the data sheet on each page should be checked against the project before a quotation is issued.
