Victron Lynx Smart BMS Battery Management System

Description

A battery management system with contactor and monitor for Victron lithium banks

The Victron Lynx Smart BMS is a dedicated battery management system for Victron Lithium Battery Smart (LiFePO4) batteries in 12.8 V and 25.6 V versions. It combines a main safety contactor, a pre-charge circuit and a built-in battery monitor in a single unit that integrates with the Lynx distribution system, and is available in 500 A and 1000 A (M10 busbar) versions. Up to 20 batteries can be used in one system, which Victron states gives up to 84 kWh at 12 V and up to 102 kWh at 24 and 48 V, and multiple Lynx Smart BMS units can be paralleled for redundancy.

How it fits into a system

The contactor acts as a secondary safety system if the primary controls fail to disable loads and chargers, and can serve as a remote-controllable main switch. DVCC closed-loop control from a GX device such as a Cerbo GX automatically controls compatible Victron inverter/chargers and solar chargers, while the ATC and ATD contacts handle other chargers and loads with remote on/off. The AUX terminal keeps a GX device alive after a low-cell shutdown, and the BMS switches off after 5 minutes without charge voltage. Pair it with inverter/chargers such as the Victron Quattro 48/10000 within solar power systems.

Documents and quotation

The attached datasheet covers the 500 A and 1000 A models; the older 500 A unit had an M8 busbar, so confirm the version. State system voltage, battery quantity and current rating for a quotation.

About brand

A battery-based backup or off-grid system needs one device that inverts, charges the battery and switches between AC sources. In the Victron Energy program that device is the MultiPlus-II inverter charger. Victron Energy, founded in 1975 and based in Almere, Netherlands, makes inverters, chargers and battery systems.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 and source Victron inverter chargers for buyers in Oman.

Reading the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 model name

The name carries the main ratings: a 48 V battery system, 5000 VA inverter output, a 70 A battery charger and a 50 A AC transfer switch. Victron's documentation gives a 230 VAC output and continuous power of 4000 W at 25 °C, falling to 3700 W at 40 °C. The unit supports Victron's PowerControl and PowerAssist functions for use with a limited grid or generator supply.

Ordering Victron Energy equipment: what we need

Send the complete model name, state if you need the standard or the GX version, and give the battery voltage and battery type. Tell us if the unit will run alone, in parallel or in a three-phase group, and the ambient temperature at the site, which matters in the GCC. We check the model against Victron documentation and provide the manufacturer's datasheet on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which batteries does the Lynx Smart BMS work with?
Victron Lithium Battery Smart LiFePO4 batteries in 12.8 V or 25.6 V versions.
What current ratings are available?
500 A and 1000 A continuous contactor versions, with M10 busbars.
How many batteries can one system have?
Up to 20, according to the Victron datasheet.
Does it include a pre-charge circuit?
Yes. A built-in pre-charge circuit limits inrush when connecting capacitive loads such as inverters.
How is it monitored?
By Bluetooth with VictronConnect, or through a GX device and the VRM Portal via VE.Can.
