Lovato ATL600 Automatic Transfer Switch Controller 2 Sources

Description

Automatic changeover control between two power sources

The ATL600 is an automatic transfer switch (ATS) controller from Lovato Electric for two three-phase power sources, typically a mains line and a stand-by generator or second line. It measures both sources, decides which one is within limits and commands the changeover devices, such as contactors or motorised changeover switches, to connect the load to a healthy source.

It is a flush-mount 144 x 144 mm panel unit with a 128 x 80 pixel backlit graphic LCD, five display languages and a front optical port for set-up with the optional CX01 USB or CX02 Wi-Fi connectors. It is a fixed unit with no expansion modules. The data below comes from the Lovato catalogue data sheet.

Where it fits in an ATS panel

The ATL600 supervises the voltage and frequency of both lines and shows the source status on the front LEDs and display. With seven relay outputs and six inputs it can drive the changeover devices, report positions and handle user alarms and limits. Source types can be programmed as single-phase, two-phase or three-phase with or without neutral. The same Lovato leaflet groups the ATL600, ATL601, ATL610 and ATL800 as two-source controllers, so check the order code if you need other supply voltages or communication.

Accessories and ordering notes

Lovato lists the EXP8001 gasket for the IP65 front, the ATLDPS1 dual power supply module for powering motorised breakers or changeover switches, and the CX01 and CX02 optical programming connectors. Please confirm the changeover device type, the supply voltage and whether a stand-by generator start signal is needed. The product page gives a weight of 600 g in the data sheet table and 680 g in the logistics data. For a generator-side control platform, see the Deep Sea Electronics DSE7320, or browse controllers and data acquisition.

How the Lovato ATL600 works

The controller measures the voltage and the frequency of both power sources. It compares them with limits set by the user. If the preferred source goes out of limits, the controller waits for a set delay, then closes the contacts that start the generator and operate the changeover devices. When the preferred source is healthy again, it waits and then transfers the load back. The delays prevent short dips from causing unneeded changeovers. The display and the front LEDs show which source is connected.

Where the ATL600 is used

  • Mains and generator transfer panels
  • Hospitals, data rooms and telecom sites
  • Water pumping stations and treatment plants
  • Commercial buildings with stand-by power
  • Two-line supply changeover in industry

Selection checklist for the ATL600

  • System voltage: 100 to 480 V AC line to line
  • Wiring mode, single-phase, two-phase or three-phase
  • Changeover device: contactors or motorised switch
  • Inputs and outputs for the positions and alarms, six in and seven out
  • Auxiliary supply of 110 to 240 V AC
  • Front protection, IP40 or IP65 with the gasket
  • Panel cut-out of 138 x 138 mm
  • Set-up tool: CX01 USB or CX02 Wi-Fi connector

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Cut the panel to the size shown and fit the unit with its clips. Wire the voltage inputs of both sources with fuses, and wire the outputs to the changeover devices with interlocks. Set the source type, the limits and the delays by the keys or by the optical port. Test the changeover by switching off each source in turn. Keep a record of the settings. Check the event log after any outage.

Requesting a quotation for the Lovato ATL600

Please send the system voltage, the changeover devices and the set-up connector needed. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.

ATL600 display

The graphic display is 128 x 80 pixels with a backlight and offers five languages.

ATL600 accuracy

The measuring accuracy is 0.25 percent of full scale plus one digit, with true RMS readings from 45 to 65 Hz.

ATL600 power supply immunity

It bridges micro-interruptions of 50 ms at 110 V AC and 250 ms at 220 V AC.

ATL600 standards

The datasheet lists IEC/EN 60947-6-1, IEC/EN 61000-6-2, IEC/EN 61000-6-3, UL 508 and CSA C22.2 No. 14, with cULus, EAC and RCM marks.

Controller records for ATL600

Keep the setting list, the event log copy and the wiring diagram with the panel file.

Choosing the right ATL600 set-up

Decide the wiring mode first, then the changeover devices and the delays. For a generator panel, list the start signal, the source status inputs and the alarm outputs, so that six inputs and seven relay outputs are enough. Plan the optical port tool for commissioning and later changes.

ATL600 panel fitting

The unit is 144 x 144 x 52.2 mm for a 138 x 138 mm cut-out. Leave room behind the door for the wiring and for the optional gasket.
