ABB AF16Z-30-10-30 3-Pole Contactor 24VDC (1SBL176001R3010)
Overview
The ABB AF16Z-30-10-30 contactor (order code 1SBL176001R3010) is a 3-pole device from the ABB AF range. It has a 24 V DC electronic coil, one built-in normally open auxiliary contact and screw terminals. It is rated 690 V IEC / 600 V UL. It switches three-phase motors up to 7.5 kW at 400 V AC (AC-3) or 10 hp at 480 V UL, and power circuits up to 30 A (AC-1) or 30 A UL general use.
The coil code “-30” means a 24 V DC electronic coil interface with built-in surge suppression. The holding consumption is reduced to 1.7 W, and the coil can be driven directly from a PLC output of at least 250 mA at 24 V DC, so no interposing relay is needed. The coil is polarised, so A1 must be connected to + and A2 to -.

ABB AF16Z-30-10-30 Ordering Code and Options
The type designation can be read directly against the ABB specification sheet for order code 1SBL176001R3010. AF16Z is the AF-range frame with the low-consumption electronic coil. The first 30 block corresponds to the main contacts: three normally open poles and no normally closed pole. The 10 block is the built-in auxiliary contact: one normally open and no normally closed. The final 30 is the coil code, which ABB defines as 24 V DC operation.
ABB states that only the coil-30 versions of AF..Z contactors are polarity sensitive, so A1 must be positive and A2 negative. The coil interface includes surge suppression, holds at as little as 1.7 W, and can be driven from a PLC output able to supply at least 250 mA at 24 V DC without an interposing relay.
Besides the built-in auxiliary contact, ABB provides front-mounted and side-mounted add-on auxiliary contact blocks.
ABB AF16Z-30-10-30 Installation and Wiring Notes
All terminals are screw type with a 10 mm wire stripping length. Main terminals accept one or two rigid conductors of 1 to 6 mm², or flexible conductors with ferrules from 0.75 to 6 mm². Coil and auxiliary terminals accept conductors up to 2.5 mm². Main, coil and auxiliary terminals are rated IP20.
The AC-1 rating depends on ambient temperature: 30 A at 40 °C, 28 A at 60 °C and 26 A at 70 °C. The permissible ambient range next to the contactor narrows when a thermal overload relay is fitted. Maximum operating altitude without derating is 3000 m.
