Overview
The Honeywell XCD hydrogen detector SPXCDALMG1 is a fixed gas detector configured for hydrogen (H2) measurement with a full scale range of 0-1000 ppm, housed in an LM25 aluminium enclosure with M20 cable entries. It is part of the Sensepoint XCD range of loop-powered, ATEX and IECEx approved gas detectors with a local display, configurable alarms and a 4-20 mA output.
Hydrogen detection matters wherever batteries are charged, where hydrogen is used as a process gas or where hydrogen sulfide cracking is a concern. The Honeywell XCD hydrogen detector measures hydrogen at low ppm levels, giving operators early warning before flammable concentrations build up.
Engineering & Design
The Sensepoint XCD transmitter platform accepts plug-in sensors: Surecell electrochemical sensors, poison-resistant catalytic flammable sensors and infrared sensors. For hydrogen, the detector measures 0-1000 ppm with a user-selectable full scale range and default alarm points, and reports via a 4-20 mA output that can be configured as sink or source.
Alarm set points, ranges, relay behaviour and the output mode are configured through the magnetic switch interface without opening the enclosure, which keeps the certification of the detector intact during commissioning and maintenance. The detector supports the complete Sensepoint XCD range of gases, so a site standardizing on the XCD platform can stock one transmitter type and the specific plug-in sensors for each hazard. For hydrogen service, the electrochemical cell is the drop-in sensing element that gives the ppm measurement this configuration is ordered with.
Two programmable alarm relays and one programmable fault relay provide local switching, and an optional MODBUS output enables remote diagnostics and configuration. The tri-colour backlit LCD shows gas readings and icons clearly, and all configuration is done with non-intrusive magnetic switches. The housing is LM25 aluminium with 2 x M20 cable/conduit entries, rated IP66, certified for -40 °C to +75 °C.

Compatibility
The Honeywell XCD hydrogen detector is part of the Sensepoint XCD family and uses the standard plug-in sensor interface. The transmitter can be converted to another gas by fitting the matching Sensepoint sensor; calibration accessories such as the S3KCAL calibration cup are supported.

The catalytic sensor of the XCD transmitter is field replaceable, and the display shows the measured value locally.
