Lincoln Electric Excalibur 7018 MR E7018 H4R Low Hydrogen Stick Electrode Supplied by Seven Star LLC

Welding Electrodes

Stick welding electrodes, also called manual metal arc (SMAW) electrodes, remain the most versatile consumable for site fabrication, structural repair, shutdown maintenance and pipeline tie-ins across Oman and the GCC. They need no shielding gas, tolerate wind and dirty surfaces better than gas-shielded processes, and run on simple power sources or engine-driven sets. The AWS A5.1 classification tells the buyer what the electrode does: in E7018, E means electrode, 70 is the minimum tensile strength in ksi, the third digit the usable positions and the last the coating and current type.

E6013 is a general-purpose rutile rod for light fabrication, E7018 and E7016 are low-hydrogen types for structural steel, pressure parts and thick or restrained joints, and E7015 is a DC low-hydrogen rod. Stainless electrodes such as E308-16 and E309-16 join and overlay stainless steels. Low-hydrogen types must be stored dry and re-dried in electrode drying ovens before use.

Seven Star LLC supplies electrodes from LongTeng, Lincoln Electric and Kobelco, with technical support in Muscat. For pipeline root and hot passes see cellulosic pipeline electrodes, for alloy work filter by base material (chrome-moly, stainless, duplex and nickel), and for machines see stick (MMA) welding machines and engine-driven welders. All products fall under welding consumables.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does E7018 mean?
Under AWS A5.1, E means electrode, 70 is the minimum tensile strength of 70 ksi, the first 1 means all positions, and 8 indicates a low-hydrogen iron-powder coating usable on AC or DC.
When should I use a low-hydrogen electrode?
Use low-hydrogen types such as E7018 on structural steel, pressure parts, thick sections and restrained joints where hydrogen cracking is a risk.
Do I need to dry E7018 electrodes?
Yes. Keep them in a heated holding oven and re-dry opened packs per the manufacturer instructions before welding.
What is E6013 used for?
E6013 is a general-purpose rutile electrode for light fabrication, sheet and non-critical work. It strikes easily and produces a smooth bead.
Can electrodes be used on a generator?
Yes, stick welding is well suited to engine-driven welders and generators. Check that the electrode type matches the polarity and current available.
