The Bently Nevada 3500/60 Temperature Monitor is a rack-mounted module within the Bently Nevada (Baker Hughes) 3500 Series Machinery Protection System, providing continuous temperature monitoring for bearing, casing, and process temperature points on critical rotating machinery. Per Baker Hughes’ official datasheet (Doc #141540), each 3500/60 module accepts up to 6 channels of temperature input, supporting a wide range of transducer types: thermocouples (Type E, J, K, and T) and RTDs, including 100Ω 3-/4-wire platinum (both α=0.00385 and α=0.00392 standards), 120Ω 3-/4-wire nickel, and 10Ω 3-/4-wire copper elements, with input impedance of 10 MΩ per lead.

Two module families are available: a non-isolated RTD/TC version supporting mixed input types on the same module, and a TC-isolated version providing 500 Vdc system isolation and 250 Vdc channel-to-channel isolation for applications requiring galvanic separation between measurement points. Rather than dedicated onboard relay contacts, the 3500/60 provides software-configurable Alert and Danger setpoints across 0–100% of full scale, with an accuracy within 0.13% of setpoint and independently adjustable time delays (Alert: 1–60 seconds in 1-second steps; Danger: 1–60 seconds in 0.5-second steps). A key distinction from its sister module, the 3500/61, is that the /60 has no per-channel 4–20 mA recorder output — the /61 adds this feature while remaining otherwise functionally identical.

The module communicates with the rest of the 3500 rack over the system backplane and is configured using Bently Nevada’s 3500 Rack Configuration Software. It supports Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) operation, in which three adjacent monitors vote two-out-of-three on a measurement, for safety-instrumented and high-integrity shutdown applications. Power consumption is 7 watts nominal. Operating temperature range is −30°C to +65°C (0°C to +65°C when internal-barrier I/O modules are fitted), with storage from −40°C to +85°C.
