Bruel & Kjaer Vibro VC-920 Vibration Monitor

Description

Overview

The Bruel & Kjaer Vibro (Vibrocontrol) 920 is a compact, single-channel vibration monitor for permanent machine protection. It measures vibration velocity in RMS according to ISO 10816, compares the value with two adjustable alarm limits (Alert and Danger), and drives relay outputs for annunciation and machine shutdown – all in a small DIN-rail or mounting-plate enclosure for control-cabinet installation.

Engineering and Design

The VC-920 accepts acceleration sensors (AS-022, AS-062 CCS, ASA-022 Ex) or velocity sensors (VS-068, VS-069, VS-0168, VS-0169), supplying -24 V DC sensor power up to 30 mA. Measuring ranges are 0-10, 0-20, 0-50 or 0-100 mm/s RMS over a frequency range of 10 to 1000 Hz, with 5% accuracy of the measured value. Each alarm channel has an adjustable 0-100% of range limit and an adjustable delay of 0-100 s to avoid false trips during start-up or transient events.

Outputs include a 0/4-20 mA analog output (load under 500 ohms, or 0-10 V) for the DCS/PLC, plus alarm, shutdown and OK relays with latching or non-latching selection. Power can be 230/115 V AC +/-15% (about 12 VA) or 24 V DC (18-32 V, about 7 W). The unit operates from 0 to +50 C and is housed in a plastic IP20 enclosure measuring 150 x 78 x 115 mm at about 0.9 kg.

Why Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies original Bruel & Kjaer Vibro VC-920 monitors, sensors and accessories for machine-protection projects across Oman and the GCC. We verify every unit against the B&K Vibro specification and support sensor selection, configuration and commissioning. Because the VC-920 is legacy hardware within the wider 920 monitoring family, we confirm current availability honestly before quoting rather than assuming stock, and where a genuine unit cannot be sourced quickly we help evaluate whether a repair, a verified used replacement, or a planned move to a currently supported B&K Vibro platform is the right call for your plant.

For facilities running VC-920 monitors on critical rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, or turbines, we also help plan spares and sensor stock around your scheduled maintenance windows so an alarm-channel failure does not become an unplanned shutdown risk. Our team can review your existing sensor wiring and setpoint configuration before recommending any replacement path, so the guidance we give is grounded in how your specific installation actually operates rather than a generic upgrade recommendation.

Sourcing and Compatibility Support for the VC-920

Vibration monitors from the 920 family were built to a specific set of alarm and output standards, and a replacement unit sourced from a different production batch can carry a different relay configuration or setpoint range even when the model number matches. Before confirming an order, we ask for your current wiring diagram or at least a photo of the terminal block, so we can verify the replacement will interface correctly with your existing alarm and shutdown logic rather than requiring rework once it arrives on site. This step has saved customers from a mismatched unit sitting unused after installation because a detail was assumed rather than confirmed.

We also support facilities that are unsure whether their VC-920 installation still meets current site safety requirements under ISO 10816 or an equivalent internal standard, and can advise honestly on whether continued use, recalibration, or a planned upgrade is the more sensible path. Reach out with your monitor’s serial number and installation details, and our team will confirm genuine availability, realistic lead time, and any compatibility considerations before you commit to an order. We are also happy to advise on longer-term planning if your facility is starting to weigh the cost of continuing to support this legacy platform against a phased move to a newer generation of monitoring hardware, timed around your facility’s own budget cycle and turnaround windows rather than an external deadline set by parts availability or a single vendor’s own production schedule alone, which keeps your facility firmly in control of the decision.
