Overview
The Bruel & Kjaer Vibro (Vibrocontrol) 920 is a compact, single-channel vibration monitor for permanent machine protection. It measures vibration velocity in RMS according to ISO 10816, compares the value with two adjustable alarm limits (Alert and Danger), and drives relay outputs for annunciation and machine shutdown – all in a small DIN-rail or mounting-plate enclosure for control-cabinet installation.
Engineering and Design
The VC-920 accepts acceleration sensors (AS-022, AS-062 CCS, ASA-022 Ex) or velocity sensors (VS-068, VS-069, VS-0168, VS-0169), supplying -24 V DC sensor power up to 30 mA. Measuring ranges are 0-10, 0-20, 0-50 or 0-100 mm/s RMS over a frequency range of 10 to 1000 Hz, with 5% accuracy of the measured value. Each alarm channel has an adjustable 0-100% of range limit and an adjustable delay of 0-100 s to avoid false trips during start-up or transient events.
Outputs include a 0/4-20 mA analog output (load under 500 ohms, or 0-10 V) for the DCS/PLC, plus alarm, shutdown and OK relays with latching or non-latching selection. Power can be 230/115 V AC +/-15% (about 12 VA) or 24 V DC (18-32 V, about 7 W). The unit operates from 0 to +50 C and is housed in a plastic IP20 enclosure measuring 150 x 78 x 115 mm at about 0.9 kg.
