Miller Maxstar 400 DC TIG/Stick Welding Power Source Supplied by Seven Star LLC

TIG Welding Machines

TIG (GTAW) welding machines produce a precise, clean arc between a tungsten electrode and the workpiece, with filler added by hand. They are the first choice for root passes on pressure piping, thin-wall stainless and exotic alloy tubing, heat exchangers, boilers and any joint where quality, appearance and low spatter are critical. Across Oman and the GCC, TIG is widely specified for process piping in power, water and petrochemical plants.

DC machines weld steels, stainless and nickel alloys, while AC/DC machines also weld aluminium and magnesium by cleaning the oxide layer. Features to compare include current range down to a low amperage for thin material, pulse control, high-frequency or lift-arc starting, foot or torch-mounted current control, and water cooling for torches in extended use. Argon shielding is standard, with back-purge for stainless and duplex roots.

Seven Star LLC supplies TIG machines from Miller, Kemppi, Migatronic and OTC Daihen. See matching TIG torches and MIG guns, filler in TIG welding wire, and stainless steel filler metals. For tube-to-tubesheet or pipe automation, review orbital pipe welding systems. Crews needing flexibility may prefer multi-process welding machines. The full group is under welding equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between AC and DC TIG?
DC TIG is used for steels, stainless and nickel alloys. AC TIG is used for aluminium and magnesium because it breaks up the surface oxide.
Do I need high-frequency start?
High-frequency start is non-contact and avoids tungsten contamination. Lift-arc start is a simpler alternative that also works well for many jobs.
Why use a TIG machine for pipe roots?
TIG gives control of the weld pool, producing clean, full-penetration roots with low spatter, as required for high-integrity piping.
What shielding gas is used?
Pure argon is standard. Helium mixtures add heat for thicker materials, and stainless roots need an inert back-purge.
Is pulse useful on TIG?
Yes, pulsing lowers heat input, helps on thin material and out-of-position welds, and improves control of the pool.
