Ador Tigfil 90S-B3 ER90S-B3 Chrome-Moly TIG Welding Rod Supplied by Seven Star LLC

TIG Welding Wire

TIG welding wire, supplied as cut-length filler rods, is used with the gas tungsten arc (GTAW) process wherever weld quality, appearance and control matter more than speed. Typical Oman and GCC applications include root passes on pressure piping, thin-wall stainless pipework, heat exchangers, boiler tubing and critical repair welds. For carbon steel, AWS A5.18 ER70S-2, ER70S-3 and ER70S-6 rods are common, while ER80S-B2 and ER90S-B3 cover chrome-moly steels, and ER308L, ER316L and ER309L serve stainless applications.

Rod selection should match the base metal chemistry, the welding procedure and the service environment. Use argon shielding, and back-purge stainless and duplex roots to avoid oxidation. Rod diameters from 1.6 to 3.2 mm are usual, with 1.0 mm for thin sections, and rods must be kept clean and identified by their stamped or tagged classification.

Seven Star LLC supplies TIG rods from LongTeng and other manufacturers, with technical support in Muscat. Compare with solid welding wire for MIG production work, filter by base material for stainless, chrome-moly and duplex alloy duties, and see the matching TIG welding machines and TIG torches. The broader range sits under welding consumables.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which TIG rod is used for carbon steel pipe?
ER70S-2, ER70S-3 and ER70S-6 under AWS A5.18 are the usual choices. ER70S-2 contains extra deoxidisers for root work on slightly contaminated surfaces.
Which shielding gas is used for TIG welding?
Pure argon is the standard, sometimes with helium added for deeper penetration on thick material. Stainless roots also need an inert back-purge.
How do I pick the TIG rod diameter?
Match the diameter to the current and joint thickness. Thin-wall tube may need 1.0 to 1.6 mm, while thick pipe root and fill passes commonly use 2.4 mm.
Can I use the same TIG rod for stainless 304 and 316?
ER308L suits 304 types and ER316L suits 316 types because of molybdenum content. Dissimilar joints often use ER309L under the procedure.
How should TIG rods be stored?
Keep them in their tubes or boxes, clean and dry, with the classification visible. Contaminated or rusty rods cause porosity and defects.
