Orbitalum GFX 3.0 Pipe Cutting and Beveling Machine Supplied by Seven Star LLC

Pipe Cutting & Bevelling Machines

Pipe cutting and bevelling machines prepare pipe ends for welding by cutting to length and forming the bevel angle and root face specified in the welding procedure. Accurate preparation is essential to full-penetration welds, consistent root gaps and reduced rework on pipelines, process piping, boiler tubes and shipyard pipework in Oman and the GCC. Typical bevels are 30 to 37.5 degrees for butt welds, with J and compound bevels used for thick wall.

Machine types include clamshell pipe frames that split and bevel in-line, portable bevellers that run on the pipe end, plasma and flame cutting heads, and orbital cold cutters that avoid heat-affected zones. Selection depends on pipe diameter, wall thickness, material (carbon, stainless, alloy), power source (electric, pneumatic or hydraulic), and whether cold cutting is needed in hazardous areas. Cold cutting is often preferred for stainless and where sparks are a hazard.

Seven Star LLC supplies pipe preparation equipment from its manufacturers. Prepared ends feed into manual welding with TIG welding machines or stick (MMA) welding machines, mechanised welding with orbital pipe welding systems, and pipeline work using cellulosic pipeline electrodes. For thermal cutting see plasma cutting systems and oxy-fuel cutting equipment. The full group is under welding equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is bevelling needed?
A bevel allows full penetration and fusion at the joint root in thicker pipe. Angle and root face are set by the welding procedure.
What bevel angle is typical?
Many butt welds use a 30 to 37.5 degree bevel with a small root face, but follow the project procedure.
What is cold cutting?
It uses mechanical cutting without heat, so there is no heat-affected zone and no sparks, useful for stainless and hazardous areas.
Can the same machine cut and bevel?
Many pipe frames and clamshell machines do both in a single set-up.
What drives these machines?
Electric, pneumatic or hydraulic drives are used. Choose according to site power and hazardous-area limits.
